I didn't think it would happen, but I've reached a point where I'd be pretty bummed out if Ohtani chooses another team. I always felt him choosing the Jays was a long shot so I tried not to get too suckered in, but damn, I'm all in now. I'm ready to be extremely happy or extremely miserable whenever he makes up his mind.

Several almost confirmed rumors that the Blue Jays had offered a spectacular amount for the posting fee, and on the Friday morning all Jays fans thought 100% they had him. Waiting for the announcement but it never came. Then gradually over the weekend there was some other announcement that it would be announced like Monday or Tuesday night at 10:00 pm. So all the Jays fans just waiting and waiting for that moment.

 

Then Tuesday at 9:58 pm Kevin Gray announces it is official. So much celebration. So much happiness. For 2 minutes. Until the real announcement comes and he is with the Rangers.

 

I wonder if Jays did bit 50 million but rangers I think were just over 50 million by a trivial amount just to beat anyone else who 50 million.

He has a very sly smile in that Twitter video as well, almost like he was hiding something. Christ, I can’t believe I’ve become one of those people during this whole saga, but it’s fun to speculate I guess.

 

Momentum is building for the Jays in a very weird way, even though literally every shred of info uncovered is completely circumstantial. It would still be blue balls to the max if we don’t sign him at this point though.
