John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Seems like the tanking is working out. A little too well. But so much of this contact is beyond lucky. Flares and seeing eye grounders….even the hard contact came on pitches that weren’t bad.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I'm just telling you that what happens in the playoffs is very different from the 162 game season. You would have to watch a lot of playoff baseball to know that How many times has a situation like the one you're suggesting happened?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I'm just telling you that what happens in the playoffs is very different from the 162 game season. You would have to watch a lot of playoff baseball to know that Varsho has caught enough innings in his career that it's not like he's forgotten his catching skills. You would think after seeing how dangerous the position is this season and losing Jansen to a broken finger you would understand the danger of using Varsho behind the plate in anything other than an emergency situation.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I guess they plan on using multiple relievers who will be on the roster tomorrow Questionable lmao
bronson44 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 what the actual f***. Parsons should have gone at least one more
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 Looks like Tim Mayza is ready for the playoffs.
keggy Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Translation “I’m old and I remember something that happened once in 1972 so the Jays would be wise to plan for that…” Just sit down, enjoy the game and stop typing nonsense like it’s some sage advice. It’s not. Varsho has thousands of innings of professional catching experience, some as recent as last year. You're talking about imminent injury risk like we're putting Guerrero back there. I didn't even feel strongly about it until you immediately started throwing a tantrum. It's like 3 pages back, reread it. I even tried to end it but you had to be a fungus about it
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I kinda feel like both teams are going to have scrub position players pitching the 9th inning, and the Jays possibly more. Almost enough run differential to get there.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I'd probably ask Cabrera for two innings and Richards to finish the game.

If you like I can run the very simple math on how often an emergency catcher has been used in MLB in the past 17 seasons (it’s twice) vs catcher injuries over the same time frame to compare which is more likely to happen. Here’s a hint on the catcher injuries, it’s a bit higher than 2. The problem here is you had a meandering thought go through your head, put it out there without really thinking about it, we’re rightfully called out for it being dumb, and now trying to defend it by attacking the person pointing it out instead of just acknowledging that you’re wrong. Take the L, take your teeth out and have a nap

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 okay let's just disagree Ignorance truly is bliss.
keggy Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Ignorance truly is bliss. You sound pretty agitated is everything okay?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 You sound pretty agitated is everything okay? Not agitated at all. Pointing out stupidity is a pretty normal thing these days
Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 okay let's just disagree I might consider your position a little more reasonable if it was Kirk and Jansen on the postseason roster given how the Blue Jays are willing to leave themselves bare over the course of a game in order to get both players in the game. But we don't know when Jansen is coming back if at all.
keggy Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Not agitated at all. Pointing out stupidity is a pretty normal thing these days Alright let's just block each other and be done with it. This is the last we'll hear from each other
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Richards has fell off a cliff
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 If there was ever a game where we need the Angel Hernandez strike zone, it’s today
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Richards has fell off a cliff And yet he'll still be the 1st guy we use out the bullpen in the playoffs lol
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Alright let's just block each other and be done with it. This is the last we'll hear from each other Lol, why would I block you? Discourse is healthy, especially when you have so much to learn about baseball.
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 If there was ever a game where we need the Angel Hernandez strike zone, it’s today Agree 100 percent
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 Richards has fell off a cliff He got some bad luck that inning gave up a 69.7 MPH Double that led to a run.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Use Richards for 2-3 innings so he’s not available for the WC series.
bronson44 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 And yet he'll still be the 1st guy we use out the bullpen in the playoffs lol I'm not certain he even makes the Wilcard series roster, especially if they try to squeeze another inning out of him here.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 If nothing else this game has been a confidence booster for Davis aschneider
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Not sure what Belt was thinking there, without the bobble he was dead by 15 feet. He was safe, but, no challenges. Just move the game along
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 If nothing else this game has been a confidence booster for Davis aschneider Schneider replaces Merrifield
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 With the emergence of Biggio. Merrifield is pretty much played himself out of regular playing time.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Schneider replaces Merrifield The comeback is on! Jon Schneider forgot how good Davis Schneider can be! Come on Seattle...we need you to win!
