John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 What are the hitting at home vs on the road splits? These guys can’t be this bad due to the new Renos. Why do they just curl up and die at home? Would be interesting to see if they've faced a disproportionate number of 1 and 2 starters at home vs the road.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 We love the warning track
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Slap hits create more pitches and perhaps a pitch count and a P change. But keep whatever is working I guess. No law against that Two deep fly outs that were up the middle and away. Imagine if they pulled those rather than thinking middle away. You have 2 flaws in your process here. you somehow think they have a pull approach when they don't and you think that's why they can't hit consistently. Both of those assumptions are wrong.
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Man they totally had Judge. Chapman you f***ing idiot. The one thing you're supposed to be good at, you keep sucking at too. Chapman the most overrated player in the league
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Are we sure the Twins are the easier matchup than the Rays? Their pitching is elite.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Better win tomorrow because I think Tampa comes in here playing well and will want revenge from last weekend. We could realistically lose out and pray the back door is open.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Chapman the most overrated player in the league It's not Chappys decision whether to cut that ball or not, it's the catcher who calls whether it's to be cut
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 This is the point I've made about our starting pitching that gets people mad. I say our starting pitching beyond Gausman is not good enough for our offense, which is not a criticism, but guys like Berrios and Kikuchi and Bassitt will often give up two to four runs against decent teams. It's not a killer amount of runs but the problem is our offense is so bad against any sort of good pitching that it's enough to bury us. Its pretty simple. We have at $93M rotation purchased entirely off the FA shelf. They have been pitching very well overall. Good f***ing thing. Gausman is a stud and the rest are 4+ FIP guys. A lot of their value comes from eating innings. Good but not elite arms ipso facto, we have to score more runs.

Yeah shits been happening all year. Chapman was an extreme pull-hitter with Oakland. Now he’s top 10 MLB for flyball outs to CF and trying to hit everything oppo

See you guys tomorrow. I am going to watch the debate.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Chapman the most overrated player in the league It's because his name has a marketable ring to it.

We could realistically lose out and pray the back door is open. I don’t think Tampa would really give a s***. They’d be more likely to want revenge in the wildcard round, at the Trop.

We could realistically lose out and pray the back door is open. Tampa won't have anything to play for, so our saving grace is that we will get a soft Tampa team but unfortunately a soft Tampa team is still enough to give a A blue jays team trouble. We will likely make it, one win might be enough, and we might win tomorrow. I think we manage to get at least one of those Tampa games so we're still in great shape.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 I am sorry but I don't care whose pitching. The alarm bells about this offense are at natural disaster levels currently.

jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 The 2023 Blue Jays are the most frustrating 87-70 team in the league.

James Key Verified Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Saw the graphic. In September they are hitting 274 on the road vs 194 at home. 70 ish runs for 34 runs at home. What is it with these guys? Is it the batters eye? Personally I’m happy to have Guillermo Gtfo
James Key Verified Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 These guys are so inert vs good pitching. Coming down to the wire and they are getting one hit after last nights shut out. Sigh.

What is it with these guys? Is it the batters eye? Personally I’m happy to have Guillermo Gtfo Im thinking it’s either the batters eye, or the park playing different due to airflow. Unfortunately there’s more renos next year, so it will be almost impossible to know the if the park played different for 2023. If we see a new batters eye next season, I think we have our answer

june.june Verified Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 They can squeak in the WC spot but beyond that, it is a huge question mark with this teamÂ’s inability to generate runs. Of the 7 top AL teams, Jays have the lowest run differential.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Cole wants to finish the game, I can see it
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 You can't slap singles against good pitching consistently, so taking a pull- centric approach makes sense to maximize damage if you do make contact. If anything the hitting coaches are preaching the slap happy up the middle or other way philosophy Yeah if anything they aren’t pulling the ball enough. Seems like an org philosophy because even vetrins like Springer are focusing more on hitting the ball to center/the other way. Jansen and Babe are the only hitters who seem to pull.

I took a look and Springer’s pull% is down a good 10% from his career norms. Easily explains the power sap we’ve witnessed. Something in the org is stinky, whether its a front office philosophy or just the coaches
