jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Whats shocking is Chappy is still 3rd on the Jays in WAR @ 3.3 Bo is at 3.4 and Gausman will finish at 5.3 unless we have to throw him again to get in. Yeah Chappy has still been a valuable piece on this team despite how awful he has been. That's why I would definitely welcome him back if he accepted the QO or on a 1-year deal for a bit more. Wouldn't rely on him however being a middle-of-the-order bat. He shouldn't be hitting 4th or 5th given how bad he has been offensively.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2023 Author Posted September 28, 2023 As far as agents go, it's always in their best interest to sign the bigger deal now even if its low AAV, I would assume thats their motto. With how volatile players can be. They are probably never telling the players to bet on themselves. His agent is also Scott Boras So you're definitely right on this

He can advise against it and try to talk him out of it but if a players mind is made up to take less money to go to a certain place, he has to say yes. It’s just that it never really happens with Boras clients
