Normally I'm in favour of a firesale if there's somebody who can come in and do better, whether it's immediately or in the longer term. This year I don't think there's anyone who can do any better at any position. We have maybe one starter in Macko since Ricky T is so injured. Martinez might be available the last days of September, but that's it.

The D-Backs traded him at the perfect time. I don't think he'll have as much value if traded now. Offense looks below average or average at best, and he's great defensively. That will have value as a ~3 WAR OF, but not sure any team is trading top prospects for 2 non-cheap years of that. Might as well just hold him, especially if the intention is to contend in 2025 (as questionable as that direction might be given the talent level on the roster).

If Votto can still produce, I'd keep him at platoon DH, backup 1b. The big "IF" is if he can still produce. I'd start cutting Turner's time and consider trading him for a lottery pick along with KK. Our minor league system has never been so empty.

I never liked the idea of Vogelbach, he couldn't do anything besides the odd poke.

 

Turner's running an OPS over .900 since beginning of June and you want to cut his time? Pair that with his April, it's looking like May was just one of those bad stretches.

In terms of wRC+ this season, Vlad ranks 3rd amongst all qualifying first baseman.

 

He's turned his season around and is actually producing as one of the top 1B in baseball.

That's exactly what's going to happen. Majority of dudes are always at their best when they have incentives to do so. When he gets that's 10 year deal then he'll go back to eating cheetos lol.
