Sorrow Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I am concerned about Bichette, we're at 398 PA since he came back from the leg injury and the bat has been not good. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/bo-bichette/19612/game-log?position=SS&gds=2023-08-19&gde=2024-10-31&season=&type=0 5.3BB%, 18.3K%, .121 ISO 89.3 EV, 85 WRC+, .245/.289/.366 triple slash. I'm hoping that the leg injuries he had last summer are starting to get in the rear view mirror but things haven't been good for a while.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Anyone complaining about Bo and Springer for all our offensive woes is out to lunch. Counting on Springer to be a big bounce back with his age and IL history was never smart. Kirk same for that matter, but he is starting to swing it a little better. Bo is a BAPIP bat with high chase low BB. Wouldn't be surprised if he tears it up 2nd half again. Every team has challenges. Underperformance and injuries etc. ATL lost Acuna Jr. Cole has been out for NYY all season and they are playing .696 baseball. Wander Franco is banished etc etc. Bo, Springer, Kirk, Vladdy... 130 wRC+ for Vladdy with 7 homers and 1 fWAR mid-June is a joke Expecting Springer to bounce back? How about just staying league average? He went from 133 wRC+ to 104 wRC+ to 76 wRC+ Kirk goes from 129 wRC+ to 96 wRC+ to 80 wRC+ Bo's wRC+ over his career, 140 - 120 - 122 - 130 - 125 - 83 Last year we had a drop off for all these hitters from well above league average to league average. People were hoping for them to bounce back but instead they've gotten worse. Would have been nice if they could have at least stayed league average, we'd probably have a handful more wins that way. It's like a nightmare
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Imagine telling someone in the offseason that our starting 2B and leadoff hitter would be Spencer Horwitz lol
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Who is the Karen here exactly? I'd reckon it's the dude who outright refuses to stop using an offensive word on these forums despite repeated warnings to stop doing so, and multiple bans for using the offensive word in question. Either he's a Karen or he's just too dumb to take a hint. Jays are winning and so your sunshine isn’t out of place. Take the W there and move on
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Not a team worth of watching, winning. But admittedly winning is winning
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 "Cooperstown hired my dad to work with thousands of children. As a coach, my dad SEVERELY abused me as a child. Whether they knew about him before hiring him, I don’t know,” Bichette wrote in a series of Instagram stories. “During MY youth baseball years, I was being beaten either during or after bad performances by my father. I watched him physically fight my coaches, other coaches, fans, and many umpires. It makes me sick to my stomach that Cooperstown has given him a platform to speak in front of children and potentially influence the kids, the parents, and the coaches. On a personal note, I’m absolutely dumbfounded by his acceptance of the role.” Dante Bichette Jr. https://dailyhive.com/toronto/dante-bichette-blue-jays-coach-abuse
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 who knows, man maybe it's true, maybe it's embellished. if Dante Bichette was physically fighting "coaches, other coaches, fans, and many umpires" then it wouldn't be a secret, Dante Bichette Jr. was probably on scout radars from little league, his dad's conduct would be well known?

Sad if this is indeed true.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Family s*** can get messy. Could be true, could be a lie. The truth is probably in between. Regardless, the team should add Dante back to the dugout as our 9th hitting consultant. We were mashing the year he was here.

Don't be so sure, dude. I was told about this same conduct from Tie Domi with his boy coming up through the GTHL and OMHA, there's always bad apples, I myself have seen some stupid s*** from dad's, never mind one's with cement heads.

If I recall correctly Dante Bichette was charged with beating his then pregnant wife so it's really doubtful any of this is embellished in any way.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 right I remember that now I think last time Jr. talked about this he said that Sr. told him they treated him differently than Bo because Jr. turned out "too soft and gay" 90's parenting in a nutshell
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 The fact that Bo remains silent on the issue speaks volumes.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 The fact that Bo remains silent on the issue speaks volumes. It seems like he's still close with his father and he wasn't the primary victim so it's not surprising he doesn't want to speak about this.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 The fact that Bo remains silent on the issue speaks volumes. Yeah, no comment has been his answer, basically, IIRC.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 It seems like he's still close with his father and he wasn't the primary victim so it's not surprising he doesn't want to speak about this. If he is close with his old man and this is untrue then why no words of defence?

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 If he is close with his old man and this is untrue then why no words of defence? It the allegations against Dante are remotely true it's completely indefensible. Bo has literally nothing to gain by speaking up about this, and if he comes to the defense of a guy who is most likely a serial domestic abuser he's going to be absolutely roasted in the public sphere.

I think it's too much for anyone to even discuss. If so I feel bad for Bo. But I don't think it's something people with no real idea should be discussing.

wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 A few people on this roster could use a Dante smack. Get him in the dugout!

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 But if untrue? What are the chances of that? 5%? 10%? There's enough smoke here that it seems almost certain that Dante Bichette is an abusive piece of garbage.
The_DH Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 It's in the media man? So's a lot of s***. Doesn't mean we need to buy into the discussion.

ColdPint Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 We’re going to hover around .500 and within striking distance of a WC spot and the Jays will end up doing a bit of tinkering on the fringes of the roster instead of doing what needs to be done. We are very clearly not a contender and not having the organizational courage to see that and act upon it will prolong the Jays return to being legit contenders.

Wifey was and is obviously a victim.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Bo career OPS .806 / this season .633 Kirk career OPS .738 / this season .594 Springer career OPS .823 / this season .582 Turner career OPS .823 / this season .673 KK career OPS .713 / this season .565 Vogelbach career OPS .745 / this season .578 wRC+ Bo career 122 / season 83 Kirk career 111 / season 80 Springer career 128 / season 76 Turner career 126 / season 98 KK career 97 / season 62 Vogelbach career 108 / season 70 Something is just rotten to the core here. Springer must be just cooked I guess, but JT still had an .800 OPS and 114 wRC+ last year. Vladdy, IKF, Varsho and Jansen all hanging in around career averages.
