Yeah I agree with this as well. I don't think we will ever get the top FA on mega deals nor will we ever even try for them.

But we can compete for good FAs who are shooting for ~80-150M. Guys like Bregman or Kim could be options next year, Soto is not.

I still think they should explore a deal for Tatis. SD has money issues, Tatis hasn't rebounded from his issues and could maybe use a change of scenery, and Preller loves to deal. Might be the easiest path to landing a potential franchise player,.

Yeah if Vlad is willing to sign a fair extension, and I get the feeling he is, I think the team should do it. Some sort of Olson like extension could work for both sides.

He's got better fitness this year and that 1 WAR version we saw last year was some sort of special set of nightmarish outcomes where his defense cratered along with his bat. He should be 3+ WAR moving forward with 6 WAR physical tools. Maybe a new FO can unlock some of that potential. Or maybe not. But a 3 WAR-ish guy for 8 years 160 mil (give or take, throw in some opt outs) isn't going to kill the team and they gotta spend the money somewhere.

Exactly how I feel

Hopefully a revamped coaching staff at some point

Vlad is like a puppy. Not very smart but loyal. He probably thinks he’s on the path to the Level of Excellence. Lifetime Blue Jay

Agreed. I don’t particularly care for Vladimir Arraez Jr. hitting hard singles all day but the Savant page is red and we have seen power from him before. Mattingly won’t be in this org forever, unless the Baseball God’s really hate us, so I think there’s still some upside in a Vlad extension. He’s also still young enough that even if the team has to take a 2 year step back he would still be in his late 20’s by the time the team (hopefully) turned the corner again. Risky? Yes. But I think it might be worth it depending on the contract. I feel the exact opposite about Bichette.

Wouldn’t touch Bichette either tbh. I’d trade him before the deadline this year

Quick re-tool:

-Trade Bo to the Dodgers

-Trade Koochi, Yimi, Romano, etc.

-Sign Kim in the offseason to replace Bo

-Extend Vlad (An extension might lower his AAV)

Between the MLB ready guys we have in Buffalo and whoever we acquire at the deadline, that could be a lot of talent to fill whatever holes we have. Sprinkle in a few more bucks to paper over whatever holes we have and WC3 will be easy to make.

My view is this. Vlad is not a smart dude. His baseball IQ is below average. He is more athletic than given credit for but he’s not a great one

Despite all this he’s been a pretty good hitter. And he’s one adjustment away from being a .300 30 HR guy. To me he’s a prime candidate to get better IF he mentally matures and not only understands what opponents are trying to do but can digest information from coaches as well

Im not taking the over on that

Yeah trading for a franchise player like that is definitely more realistic then signing them outright.

Mid to high end guys. George Springer, Russell Martin, Kevin Gausman

Not Geritt Cole, Juan Soto, etc

That would be solid, but it would all feel kind of pointless unless and until the team brings someone in who can fix what might be a league-worst development system.

I think this is f***ing terrible

Put them in Tim Hortons uniforms instead

Why would the Nike swoosh be yellow outlined in red? McDonald’s vibes

If the Toronto City Council was playing a charity softball game and Nike sponsored the jerseys, I would expect something like that

Maybe its supposed to be the sun or something?? Who knows.

Im more upset about the main colour. Did we really need to do black again?

Right its like 10 minutes of thought went into designing this. AI generated. Boring.

I figured they would do something Native American

Like throw Tkaronto on the jerseys and stuff

Yeah I though for sure it would be native/indigenous related. I guess we gotta remember Nike is an American company and probably don't even understand Canadian history, let alone care.

They go with these safe designs with boring colours that are guaranteed to sell to the dudebros.

I assume the pants will be black with the red and blue piping running down the leg

Likely. Maybe they'll throw us for a loop and be fully red pants

A lot of people were thinking that the City Connects would have purple because the players have been wearing a lot of purple accessories this year.

Then the team releases this teaser and we also see purple.

Maybe the "leak" of the hat and jersey that we've seen isn't actually it.

Yeah better than most City Connects but that's not saying much.

I find it hilarious that people are surprised these city connect jerseys suck balls. They literally all suck balls. The only one I can stomach is TB. The Toronto skyline, with the CN Tower on it? Seems about what I expected.

Yeah no one on this board is surprised but on twitter and elsewhere people are showing dismay.

I am starting to wonder if the red, blue and black hat/shirt that we've seen is the actual city connect jersey though.
