It’s incredible how quickly things seem to have fallen apart. 2021 felt so good and I thought we had another 3 years of that to come. Things really looked incredible with Vlad finding his footing, Manoah getting his feet wet and looking great, guys like Kirk mashing, smart signings like Semien producing, etc. Now we know Vlad is not the Lisan Al-Gaieb, Manoah can’t get hitters out in single A, and our biggest off season acquisition is IKF.

The only positive I can think of is that if things can swing negatively that quickly, then perhaps they can swing positively that quickly as well. It will need to.

Honestly if you look at the moves made its not hard to fathom. Assuming Vlad was going to be a shoe in hall of famer was mistake number 1. Letting players like Simien, LGJ and Teo get away while replacing them with Dalton f***ing Varsho and a reliever. Having a farm system in the bottom half of league that has failed to produce any young cheap MLB talent, besides maybe Schneider and Clement this year. Although Clement was a castoff from the A's not even a Bluejays farm guy lol. Your best pitching prospect Pearson flopping, then trading away your other best prospect Moreno , and your other best pitching prospect Manoah was never even that good according the analytics nerds. Lets just hope Tiedmann actually pans out.

Werent all the real analytic nerds saying all along that Manoahs really good season seemed like a complete fluke?

Not exactly a fluke, but he shouldn’t have been anywhere near the top 3 in CY voting.

Has anyone seen another pitcher with such promise fall off like this.

Ricky Romero is a pretty good comparison.

Perihperals weren't eye popping for either of them but both looked like anything from FIP-beating #2 starters to mid rotation guys at the worst.

Both struggled out of nowhere and then after the fact they pointed to some vague injuries as the reason.

I guess it's always possible when you sit like 93mph

Fastball can go from fringe average to batting practice pretty quickly

Mayza was hitting norms last night, even hit 94, his norm.

To be fair to Ricky Ro he had massive knee issues. From 2012-2014 he basically pitched with a partially torn tendon and no cartilage in both of his knees.

Because of Covid Manoah basically went from a college draftee sitting on his ass to a full time MLB workhorse.

I don't think it was the wrong move because the team fighting for a playoff spot, but I've always wondered if that had an effect on him

MLB TV MLB Tonight is killing Vlad for his shush while going around 3rd about not being able to read the room on timing of doing things. Had his graphic being played against iconic moments (Lou Gehrig speech, Ripken speech, etc) and his shushing them. Nice to see the National media catching on to what Vlad is.

Manoah deserves every minute of his downward plunge. He's the biggest douchebag and doesn't deserve to be in the MLB. f*** him..

People were wondering how long it would take for him to be as hated as Stro. Happened faster than I thought.

He's a douche but I don't why anyone would wish this upon him. I don't remember him doing anything objectively bad or awful - just some arrogant commentary here and there.

He "deserved" to regress to an SP4/5 and settle in as a fringe-average MLB starter. What has happened to him is kind of sad at this point.

I hope he invested his signing bonus well

Unfair man. Manoah had a terrible upbringing with a father who's in jail. The kid has been though a lot. You may not like his personality, based on what little you see, but it's really stupid to suggest all of this. Don't be a POS.

Went back and looked at Gausman's starts last year and he did have a huge drop in velo in Game 2 but it was against the Royals so he still dominated. The velo returned in Game 3.

The Game 1 velo to Game 2 velo in both 2023 and 2024 all match up almost perfectly. So hopefully that Yankees game was a blip and he looks great against the Rockies later this week.

I remember those starts for Gausman in 23. Not worried at this point. It was cold and pretty miserable in NY too. Looking deeper at Berrios 5 FIP and 6.7 expected ERA his first 2 starts he has been a bit lucky so far. Hoping he has it all going in Toronto.

There are a lot of players who have a chip on their shoulder. People are acting like he's Brett Lawrie. Not even close. I hope he can figure things out and get back to the Bigs. I wouldn't wish this situation on anyone.

Wishing ill on another human being really says a lot about a person.

Obviously Manoah's command was non-existent.

But how was his Stuff? Does it look better than his stuff last year?

4-6 is a miracle they could be 2-8 easily

5 losses with no shot to win

1 loss with a late run, but it was almost a blowout before

1 win they stole

1 win that Kikuchi and the pen get sole credit for

2 outright wins

I'm not even mad they are 4-6. Kind of impressed actually.
