More.

It's become blatantly obvious that all the Rogers Sportsnet guys who cover the team do now, is tow the Jays company line. So that's how I'm going to refer to them.

Obviously. This is true for almost every team in pro sports man. Stop listening to them (and/or expecting something besides common media BS).

You seem like you were the type of kid in school who got their head dunked in toilets

don't force me to use multi-quote :)

Funny how you read into it more than what is written. A civil lawyer's dream.

If there was any comparison of the two pitchers, it was that they both sucked yesterday, and neither team cares.

The thing with Manoah is the results actually do matter. It’s not like he’s handed a starting role, he has to earn the spot so he shouldn’t be “trying anything new” in spring. He’s had all offseason to work on his mechanics this isn’t the 1980s when guys came into spring without touching a baseball in 4 months.

At this point in ST, teams only care about 2 things, the pitcher hits their target # of pitches, and doesn't get hurt.

1.2 IP Double B, breathe. Metrics were good, control/command not so much. He hasn't even tried the cutter yet. You're flat out wrong.

Dude can't win, does what the forum wanted, throws as hard as pre '23 on day 1 of ST... the control was f***ed no doubt, but there's more good than bad to take away from that. Y'all trippin' and I ain't a fan boi.

It’s the first spring training start, there’s still plenty of time for Manoah to show some command and some consistent mechanics. Anyone remember the panic over Berrios’ first start at the WBC around this time last year? I think his line was 6 runs over 1IP and he was thereby declared cooked.

Besides, if Manoah doesn’t pull it together and turns into the next Ricky R., Ricky T. will be there to save us.

He's got like 5 ST.starts ti go. If he can't be effective in the last few, he's Buffalo bound and the jays pivot to White probably.

The reactionary posts over ST start 1 are by guys that don't know baseball.

holy spring training over reaction. How about everyone making personal insults just delete those posts and let's keep the focus on baseball.

I agree to keeping it baseball, but if I get poked for no reason...

Spanky is completely right here, for the record. His posts were squarely about baseball/Manoah/commentary on Manoah, then he got hit with a wildly over the top direct personal attack.

Scary scenario either way. Pivoting to White should be option E and is not going to get us anywhere.

We have a tough stretch to start and won't be putting us in a good position to have a - 15% chance of our SP getting a win every 5th game.

If Manoah is cooked could go to Francis in addition to White. Tiedemann a midseason add. Could also sign someone like Lorenzen.

Domingo German probably gets like 2M if he signs at all, and might actually be pretty decent now that he's not literally boozing before games.

These "highlights" are missing the most important part of the Chapman discussion that ocurred.

The answer to "should/could the Jays re offer the QO" ended up being a pretty resounding no. BNS and Zwelling re-iterated that the Jays don't have enough under the 2nd threshold to outright sign Chapman.

Zwelling makes a jab right after (directed at the casuals who know nothing about the budget, act like they do, and don't even care to educate themselves), saying "Espinal's 2.725M isn't quite the level of subtraction required that Atkins was referring to." On this board we haven't had much of this level of defiance of reality, but off board the casual takes have been staggeringly bad.

They also do clarify though that in special cases the FO can make a case to ownership to go over budget if it's for the right move. Outlined examples of past FO targets like Ohtani/Freeman/Seager. They make an added clarification after: "Chapman is not one of those special cases."

Or get permission to exceed the next luxury tax threshold.

Yeah, and remember the luxury tax isn't calculated until the last day of the season. Even starting the season being projected over, there's always ways to get under it later with trades.

Time for the people who were trying to wish Chapman being a special case into existence to pick between the realistic Door A/B scenarios I provided for their pivot opinions.
