That will fix things.

Shapiro - Excellent

Atkins - Meh

Schneider - Scapegoat

2 and 3 go if they indeed miss the PS.

I'm not a dildo saying the season is over, so we'll see. (That's not at you specifically, it's all the dumn-dumns)

Lets be real, a full blow it up and rebuild isnt gonna happen. As long as Bo and Vlad are here they Jays will be committed to be all in. That means for 2024 and 2025 things will remain mostly status quo. Some coaches will be scapegoated but Shapiro wont be going anywhere untill after 2025. Small chance for Atkins I suppose if Click is willing to step right in.

4 of the 5 starters will be back, core offensive pieces will all be back. FO will bank on Springer, Vlad and Kirk and Varsho all bouncing back and will make perhaps 1 big signing to add to the offense. Davis Schnieder and Horwitz will take the Merrifield and Belt roles and money will be spent on a proper masher. Bellinger?? Although he is massively overrated. Ohtani? Not much else out there.

Yeah Rogers is not going to green light a rebuild regardless of who the GM is. Which is why I think they keep Atkins for at least one more season. They will look at the last 4 seasons and see playoffs (Mickey Mouse appearance in a 60 game season but whatever), 91 wins, 92 wins, and probably somewhere between 82-88 wins this season depending on how badly they want to collapse down the stretch. They will look at the latter as a down year based on unforeseen underachievement and bank on the same players improving next season with improvements added around them + new coaching staff (at least on the hitting side). Would that be the right thing to do? That's up for debate, but that's what I see happening. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they replaced Atkins with someone like Click and let Click be the one to try to get the 2024-25 teams into the playoffs instead. Atkins isn't bad, but they can find better.

Keirmaier I would keep. He fits in well, and we have no one on the farm, do we? Wasn't our last good OF prospect Travis Snider? Pompey?

Good luck with the act.

I don't think a rebuild or full tear down is necessary to be honest. Would still give it another shot in 2024 and if things don't work, then would start trading off some assets like Bo, Gausman, Bassitt, Romano etc.

Not necessarily at all, I don't care what anyone says bo and vlad are elite talents - key is talent, how a team would get the best out of that talent is another story

Trade for Juan Soto

Padres could be looking to shake things up this offseason given their struggles. Soto only has one year left on his contract so they can't expect to get a king's ransom for him. If Atkins is still around, I hope he makes a big splash like Soto. Got to go big in 2024 or else go home.

BO is, but Vladdy could be just an above average DH. The Varsho trade really sucked because you could have had Moreno put into the core. Atlanta locked up its core to team friendly deals, Baltimore has a stack of young higher end guys and even more prospects to come. Shatkins is a huge failure, but I think they are at the end of their lifespan and won't start a needed tear down. Jays have one of the worst farms in the majors, so they will still be all in on '24 until they get fired.

Vlad+ for Soto and Kim

I was told a couple weeks ago by L54 that Vlad + for Soto was far fetch.

Padres might value the extra year of control with Vladdy and still believe he could return to his 2021 form. Soto is leaving San Diego as a FA regardless, so they probably will be more open to moving him. Definitely one of those challenge trades. If you trade Vladdy, you want a player like Soto in return, even if it means one less year of control.

If the Jays could land Soto without having to trade Vlad, even better. But doubt the Jays would have the pieces.

Vlad need to go. If he's uncoachable and doesn't listen to coaches, why keep him around?

Find some more 1 or 2 year free agents to replace KK, Belt, and Chapman.

I also trade Babe for as much as we can get for him.

Keep Pete Walker, the rest of the coaching staff needs to go. I believe we need a HC that has actually played in the MLB.

Just my .02

what proof do you have that he's uncoachable? it might be the opposite and he's listened and tried to adjust to whatever they are telling him and it's not working

Wonder how much Bellinger gets as a FA this offseason.

Boras. probably 20-25AAV over 5-7 years

I think Bellinger is back

Man you’re becoming the most insufferable poster here

Remember when you suggested Vlad for FTJ too? Lol

I wonder if we could trade Vlad for Ohtani?

Anyone like the idea of signing Stroman and Teoscar for 2024?

Sure.

Stroman idk, the rotation is pretty set and we mostly need some backend 5th starter types/depth. Might need to use that money elsewhere, plus im not sure his relationship with the front office can be salvaged

Teoscar makes a lot of sense if we can get him on a 3 year deal or less.

Love Stroman (note he has a $21MM option for 2024) but the #1 priority is a big bat (corner) outfielder:

In order:

Bellinger

Teo

Joc Pederson

LGJ

If money isn't an issue, I would definitely bring Stroman in. Shores up the rotation even more in case Kikuchi or some other arms regress a bit.

Teoscar is a no brainer as a corner OF bat. A lot of those guys available so Teo or Pederson would be great. Teo since he had success here and was liked in a clubhouse would be ideal though.

Yeah No. 1 priority is an elite bat who can produce 4-5 WAR or more. Can't rely on Vladdy to be that guy. Bellinger fits the bill but is going to cost a pretty penny and you have to hope he doesn't turn into a pumpkin again prior like he was in 2021 and 2022.

Would trade for Juan Soto if you could get him without having to trade Vladdy. If you need to include Vladdy in a deal, would still do it. Can't mess around in 2024.

Teoscar yes. Stroman maybe if Ryu walks but don't think it happens.
