Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 I wonder if they'll be able to squeeze Davis Schneider and his .367/.472/.700 slashline into the game tonight. Going to be tough with Biggio on the cusp of OPS'ing .700 again but we'll see. Maybe they can find a pinch hit at bat or two for him this series. Update, they could not in fact find any ABs for Schneider in this series. A series in which the team scored 6 runs in regulation across the 3 games.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 I don’t even know what to say at this point. Never seen a guy get glued to the bench after hitting a game winning homer before. Cavan Biggio gets a week’s worth of playing time after a couple of singles. Maybe Schneider must be benched for a violation of team rules or something?

Montoyos win % is now higher too.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 We face a lefty tomorrow and the offense is in a deep rut. Surely they can get him into the lineup somehow. At this point he’s so rusty I don’t think we can blame him if he doesn’t hit a game winning homer though.
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 He's stone cold by now. Why isn't he just back in AAA?
deanmike Verified Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Schneider (John) feels threatened by Schneider (Davis). If Davis heats up too much, he'll steal all of John's Schneider's endorsements. Where else would someone like John Schneider get an endorsement deal from? He knows Schneider's is the only endorsement money he could ever see, and Davis is a threat to that!
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Please coach, don't bench him.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 only 1 Schneider will be here next season
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Well look at that, the Babe delivers
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Well look at that, the Babe delivers JS is furious
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 And now a double?!? What are you waiting for john, get him out of there!
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Unleash the Babe and the playoffs will be easy to make
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Jays win the Baltimore series with Babe in the lineup
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 10 years 200 mil to lock Babe Schneider up through his age 34 season. Who says no?
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 If the team decides to take him out of the lineup after his performance today, I would be pissed.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Not only did he have a perfect day at the plate but Espinal made a nearly game blowing error, again. There is just no way to get his bat in there against RHP. Kind of annoying. You almost want someone to get hurt as weird as that is to say
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Schneider with a perfect day. Thanks and see you next week for your next 4 PA
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 14/33 with 4 HR's and a 1.373 OPS...that's not bad for pick number 849.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 The lineup against RHP: Merrifield 2B Bo SS Belt DH Vlad 1B Springer RF Varsho LF Chapman 3B Jansen/Kirk C Kiermaier CF Who can you bench to give Schnieder a run of starts against RHP? Chapman has been bad all August but was great in July. He has had a wildly streaky season but all things considered is just too good to bench. Kiermaier? Varsho to CF and then Scheider is in left?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Just rest a regular a few times a week so DS can get into the lineup. No reason why he can't play 4 times a week at a minimum. The fact that they started Espinal at 3B when Chapman was out rather than take the defensive hit by either playing DS there or someone else (Biggio, Merrifield, etc), so that DS can get into the lineup was ridiculous.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 well this is the A line-up but whenever a starter needs a day off then Schneider is in Yes if anyone NEEDS a day off But it's also late August and the team is on the outside looking in so does anybody really get a day off for pure maintenance? Hopefully/probably not, if the team is being managed with urgency. So the uncomfortable fact remains. We NEED Schneider to get a run of playing time but unless someone is banged up then pencilling him in against RHP probably makes the team worse on paper or worse by projections. sigh.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I wonder if Schneider can play 1B
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I wonder if Schneider can play 1B 8 games in AAA this year!
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Schneider has the "feel" of a 28 year old minor league journeyman but this motherf***er was born in 1999 There were 1999 birthdays being picked in the 2020 draft He's just a normal prospect, lol. Maybe a year behind the "norm".

I guess I stated the obvious. Not sure how they go about it but they created the situation and now need to deal with it - it's a good thing to have a player pushing for playing time
