This was not a well managed game. Mayza pitching instead of Pop seems like a pretty conventional choice to make. And then pinch hitting for Espinal in the final inning as well. I know he’s sucked (but so as Espinal) but I would have went with Belt to go for a walk or homer.

 

There were other possible moves to make throughout the game too.

 

Entering the year I thought we had a really deep team. A lot of those bench pieces have sucked but it’s too early to give up on them all. Should be using the bench way more.

I looked at the Jays schedule and it looks like a never ending gauntlet for the most part until like late August FFS

Bass is 35. His stuff is down across the board. Looks like hes cooked. I am sure if they DFA'd him they would probably be able to trade him somewhere.

Why didn't Mayza face Crawford? I guess they didn't want him potentially facing Saurez.

 

Jays didn't add any runs after the third. Did not use their left handed bats Belt, Biggio or Kiermair (until he was a defensive sub).

 

No reason for that at all. If you still believe in Belt and Biggio they should be in this game.

 

Good start to the season overall but lack of any good left handed batters is going to be a problem. If they already are so down on Belt and Biggio they won't pinch hit them for Jansen or atleast Espinal it's an issue.

 

Frustrating to see Gallo and Bellinger off to hot starts. Need a left handed hitter that can do damage.

 

If Belt isn't good enough to pinch hit for Espinal against a right handed slider machine he has no purpose on this team.

Pearson and Richards are 2 guys I would never trust with inhereted runners. Feel like Richards is just as likely to serve up a bomb over a strikeout
