wilko Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 MLB deal? Who gets the boot? NM forgot he's hurt.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 wonder if two year deal? Has to be, he’ll be out for likely all of 2023, maybe an outside shot to return late second half.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Author Posted January 31, 2023 wonder if two year deal? Of course it'll be, dumn-dumn.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 If those 2025-26 options are team options then great move.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 It'll be interesting to see what the terms are but he's a damn good reliever.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Why can't we ever just sign a good reliever loll. We sure love our relievers who we hope can bounce back either from injury or just better performance lol. Not saying this is a bad move in any way but just noticed that particular part about our front office lol.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Author Posted January 31, 2023 I thought he had early season TJS? First week of June... he should be back late July - Mid August.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 If he's back by September then this is an excellent deal for the Jays. Basically like picking up an arm at the trade deadline for a playoff run without having to give anyone up.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I really like this signing.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Chad Green was literally one of the better relievers in baseball before he got hurt. Dude, I love the signing. I was just mentioning how we only sign relievers who are either coming off major injury or have sucked badly the season before.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Very good signing. Especially if he can finish the season with us. Would be awesome having him strikeout Yankees in September . If he returns to form he’s probably the best reliever we have. Outstanding strikeout numbers which we need more of. Swing and miss is King.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I've read that three times and still don't quite grasp it
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 This is kind of hard to wrap your head around but if everything is declined it won't be the full 8.5M. Seems like that's the number if he exercises his club option next year. But we will have the opportunity to exercise a 3 year option prior to him deciding on his option. But having the two year option as the fallback could force his hand on the 1 year option. But it's hard to say without knowing all the exact numbers. Regardless, Fangraphs had him ranked as the #42 overall FA this offseason, even with his injury. Ahead of pitchers like Kenley Jansen, Zach Eflin, Kimbrel, etc. So this is a pretty significant signing.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 So 3/27 is a mutual option? How can it be a Jay option if he can decline lol. If he’s healthy he’ll definitely decline you’d think and it’ll be the 2/21. Nice signing. I wouldn’t call him one of the best RP is baseball but he’s someone you can trust
