Why is no one talking about 2x Cy guy Snell?

Toronto should be in on him IMO. A WAR is a WAR, and there's nothing wrong with stacking the rotation if a big bat isn't available. It would also free them up to trade another arm for the bat they're looking for.

Thoughts on Rhys Hoskins? I’d rather have him than JD Martinez

Good target and might only take a year commitment if he wants to rebuild value after missing last year

He's most likely a 3-3.5 win pitcher moving forward and has discounting his rookie and covid shortened season has only averaged about 125 innings per season for his career. He's going to be in really tough to provide value commensurate with the contract he's likely to receive.

I kind of prefer Martinez as it's a little easier to know what to expect from him vs Hoskins who is coming off of major surgery. Hoskins definitely has some benefits as he's much younger and has a little defensive utility as he can play first base. The early projections are better for Hoskins as well. If the team signed Bellinger as well as Hoskins then Bellinger likely wouldn't see much time at first base but that would be fine as he can offer more defensive value in the outfield.

Spanky posted some BA scouting reports on the international free agents and Imanaga was portrayed as a back of the rotation starter/bulk guy. It's pretty hard to get very excited about this guy given the low likely upside.

I dunno. He has amazing stuff. And good command.

He has just been homer prone in Japan.

If we are looking at pure DH's, Joc Peterson might be a better fit than JDM. Joc is younger and bats lefty.

Yeah I don't have JDM tunnel vision like some of these others.

I'd like him on a 1 year deal but he is so old and the K rate is a concern.

I'd feel just as good about Pederson, Turner, Brantley

and the team could even go cheaper and sign Carlos Santana or Belt, depending what else they do. Or sign guys with more position utility like Gallo, Pham.

Wasn't it reported earlier that Snell is most likely going to his home town Mariners?

Missed that

Castillo

Kirby

Snell

Gilbert

Miller

Woo

Hancock

Ray (midseason)

Would just be an embarrassment of riches

Finally, Kikuchi has broken his silence

If they get Brantley soon, I'll totally forgive this offseason

you have very low standards

Brantley is like, the final tiny little piece

Dude thinks its 2017 still. He wants Brantley, Donaldson, Flaherty, etc lol

To be clear, I would only sign JDM for one year. I would pay him 18M dollars. Not interested in a multi year deal

In his defense it seems like he's been locked away for the last 5 or 6 years so he's a little out of touch.

That price is getting up there IMO

I mean he has a 0.6 fWAR projection

I think the range out ourcomes is 0 WAR to 2 WAR, $18M basically pays him for the top end

I’d be down for JDM on a 1 year deal. Brantley or Joc might be 1 year territory as well.

Any of them on one year deals are probably better than multi year deals for the guys who are considered to be a cut above like Teoscar, Hoskins, Soler, etc.

He's only good twice through the lineup. Not the type of ace you want in the playoffs. :P

Our management only believe in twice through the lineup anyway. 75 pitches is the new 150

Better than Berrios who's only good once through the lineup apparently :)

True, makes sense now lol

People still love ERA.

Even with his high BB rate he really limited base runners. He had the best BA against, hitters only hit .180 off him. Strider should have probably won though.
