Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Wouldn't players who the Jays may still need at some point go down to Dunedin and continue to train and stay in game ready shape at their training complex?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Nice to have Belt back in time for post season - hopefully gets back in the groove before long

There’s also a good chance the team will be returning to Florida next week for the playoffs
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Glad to get Belt back. Should have enough time to get his timing back before the playoffs where we will need him. Jackson is also an upgrade over Pearson, sadly. It just goes to show that not all prospects are going to pan out. It's sad that he can't even become a RP you can rely on. He was basically mop up duty with a few chances at higher leverage games that he blew.

I would have thought at this point in the season they won't be really going to Florida and just stay in shape in Toronto or wherever the team is. I mean if Belt's back actus up again in 2 days, or a pitcher goes down, you want the replacement close by, not in Florida.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Florida is close. Airplanes exist. Who knows if they actually have to report though. It might just be a paper assignment.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 I just report the truth. If you don't like it complain to reality. I don't think I've ever posted one thing that is insane. Just things that are real and uncomfortable for corporate bros. Like I posted long diatrobes about Shapiro kicking home plate lady out of her seats and what that says about Shapiro as a human being. The corporate bros don't like those type of posts, because they honestly feel bad that home plate lady is getting the boot... but they also can't acknowledge it, as they don't get their corporate bro goodies if they acknowledge reality in front of people like Shapiro. Me: Poor home plate lady is getting the boot by that ******* Shapiro (but longer and angrier) Corporate Bros: NVIDIA stock is still doing good but is only the beginning of it's run, and that Olerud sure is insane. Me: What? NVIDIA stock is crazy, someday this s*** will end. And I was talking about poor home plate lady getting the boot by Shapiro. Home Plate lady. Don't you feel bad about that? Corporate Bros: That Olerud sure is crazy. Now let's get you set up with some tech investments for 2024. The CBs don't even like Shapiro, just a learned behavior that they get lots of money if they ignore the bad things Shapiros do. I was being complimentary when I spoke about your insane rants. Also, claiming that you post long diatribes is not helpful to your cause of denying insanity. No one sane ever uses the word diatribe to describe their own writing style or uses the word diatribe at all.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Can’t help but feeling last night was foreshadowing for what the playoffs are going to look like. Finishing wild card 3 is so paramount for advancing.

Finishing wild card 3 is so paramount for advancing. Jays hitters are powerless slap hitters at home but are actually decent offensively on the road. All Wild Card games are on the road. They may not look this bad in a playoff setting, although I guess folding under pressure can happen anywhere.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Michael King isn't in the playoffs It's hard to score on Michael King when the ump is giving him calls 4-6 inches off the plate in full counts and bases loaded situations against your #3 hitter. lmaooooooooooo that scorecard +1.43 runs for NYY in a 2-0 game!

Not even meaning to take away from the Jays poor performance overall, but who knows what could have happened if Vlad gets that walk instead of being wrung up with the bases loaded. What’s interesting to me is that umpires get feedback after every game which shows their missed calls and attempts to quantify the factors that led to that missed call. I’m wondering why someone from MLB can’t run out there between innings with an iPad and just point out the misses so the ump can attempt to improve for the remainder of the game. Would that be so terrible?

You know why this happened right? The ump took one look at this thread and said "nope, they are getting too positive" and decided to crush that positivity. Had the last post he read on here been whining about the 2018 Donaldson trade, he would have felt sorry for the obviously mentally challenged Jays fan base and produced an Eddie Gaedel-like strike zone for King. In a span of a week you shitheads went from "Texas swept us we are missing the playoffs wah wah why didn't we trade Donaldson back in April 2017" to contemplating the playoff rotation by skipping Gausman's last start. The f*** is wrong with you people?

The third strike call on Vladdy with the bases loaded was an absolute kick in the balls. The complexion of the entire game is changed by that missed call. Year in and year out the Yanks are tops in the AL with favoritism from missed calls. This year they have a whopping +16 runs from the umps while the Jays have - 6 runs. That's a 22 run difference over the course of the year, and to put that in perspective that number is equivalent to all the plus defence the Jays have received from KK (+12) and Varsho (+10) based on OAA.

Trevino is just a really really good catcher! No favoritism!
