There's no agenda or conspiracy here. Consumers themselves have transitioned to credit/debit. I rarely carry cash, pretty much only when I travel.

Businesses respond to changes. If 99% of a business' customers used credit/debit, why would they bother with the work involved in providing a cash option?

Cash also involves math and some of the kids these days…. Ever seen the absolute deer in headlights look you get when you try to add an extra dollar to get back a solid 5?

I could probably buy into the notion that you need to make it as accessible as possible for essential services like the grocery store. I'd also be curious of the numbers you posted, how many are over the age of say 65? I would expect within the next 10-15 years, that number will drop as generations who didn't grow up with technology pass.

To be honest, these numbers are hardly from scientific papers and don't offer a ton of detail, but they are from fairly reputable sources like NPR and the ACLU. I did see a couple of references to people under 25 and over 65 being the most affected which makes sense.

After looking into it more, I see that banning cashless is a lot more common than I thought in the US and most major cities have done it. I wonder if that's the way it will happen in Canada, if at all.

The other day I got an ice cream at DQ and it was $5.75 so I gave the girl $10.75. She stares at the money for a few seconds and goes 'have a nice day!'. When I asked for my change, she had to go get someone to help. I was really embarrassed for her.

I have 100k in cash buried, waiting to convert it to gold because inflation. Then bury it again. Have no problem using cash anywhere, except online ordering for takeout food. Lots of places let you call in though minus a small percentage.

7-11 and any other gas station never seems to have issues with it. I use cash daily and haven't come across a genuine idiot yet. I do believe that the first time it happens to a young cashier it will be confusing and probably not a common sense thing, that the customer was trying to make it convenient for them.

If the UFO's are here, they have every right to end us and start the human experiment all over again.

Montgomery got lit up by the A's and also his last start before that at Minnesota. Dunning hasn't been great either. Scherzer was terrible last start and might be hurt. Split should be very reasonable and hopefully 3-1. Mariners behind us means one of them also lose 4 games minimum against Texas. Playoffs are all but a sure thing.

I don't get this. "Almost" all cash registers these days don't open until the cashier punches in the amount given to them - which then tells them how much change to provide. You must have been in some shithole with 1960 registers. If you're in the Soo - I guess that makes sense.

That's funny. I was at DQ a couple of weeks ago and remember thinking wow these cash registers are f***ing old.

They also may be expecting that was a tip. More likely than not knowing to give change. Though I was going to DQ and they never asked for tips until very recently, they didnt have that option on the debit machines. After they didnt toss and barely sauced my "sauced and tossed" chicken strips, gave me 2 orders of fries instead of 2 onion ring orders, I made a complaint and will not be returning. They sent a $50 gift card.

I worked at DQ in 1999 and their registers did the math on the change back then...

The Jays now have 8 players with 2+ WAR on the season and should finish with 10, with Varsho and Kirk joining them. Vlad will not be one of the 10.

Damn. I don’t think anyone could have predicted how mediocre Vlad has been this year

Jays play Rangers 4 times to start the week then Orioles play Rays 4 times later this week

Anything could happen

Right, and then we have 6 against Rays, and the Mariners and Rangers play each other 7 times.

Still lots of ways the standings could shake up

Dude? lol... just bank W's and see where the cards fall.

Personally, I am hoping TB flips BAL and then we get a TOR-BAL wild card round.

I tend to agree with Fangraphs that Baltimore isn't nearly as good as their record indicates and I would like nothing more than to beat the s*** out of Baltimore in the WC round to prove that point and send them packing. However - Baltimore certainly seems to have our number this year and I really want nothing to do with them in the playoffs until we absolutely have to.
