jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Glad Travis Snider shared that input. In 2009, I went to see the Jays play Boston at Fenway at the end of August. I was staying at the Jays hotel so saw a lot of players in the lobby and bar at all times during the day and night. Snider definitely was more of a partier, leaving the hotel late at night. Even saw him coming back with two blondes haha good for him at that age. But yeah he seems like a cool guy. Sucks he couldn't live up to those lofty expectations. I was watching Jose Bautista playing table checkers in the lobby one night with some random guy haha. And this guy went on to have a monster 2010 crazy! Some classy Jays players at the time who stopped to say hello or sign an autograph: Jason Frasor, Marco Scutaro, Aaron Hill (met him and his dad), John McDonald, Bautista, Rzep. Snider also came up to the fans at Fenway as well, so he was a class act. Jamie Campbell was super friendly and such a nice guy as well. Halladay, as much as I loved him, saw him in line at the hotel Starbucks completely ignoring a little kid.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 I just realized the Jays unretired #12 to allow Hicks to use it. That's blasphemy man lol
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 I just realized the Jays unretired #12 to allow Hicks to use it. That's blasphemy man lol That’s not why they did it lol. They completely washed their hands of Robbie Alomar for trying to have sex with young female volunteer at one of his events affiliated with the Blue Jays.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Thank f*** I could see a 10 day IL stint still But thank God he doesn't need surgery
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Thank God it's just Bo being a complete pussy! That's great news!! Haha I was gonna say the same thing. Either Bo was a tough dude for walking off but is out for the year or he's a pussy for not getting back to 1B but will be back. Glad to see he's just a pussy lol.

If there's any swelling he's probably unavailable until that gets resolved. Long term if the same knee keeps getting sore, he needs to keep an eye on his meniscus.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 According to the radio crew Since the start of the 2021 season only two players in baseball have played more games than Bo 1.Marcus Semien 2. Vladdy

tossingthiscoin Verified Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I really hope our FO doesn't pay Vlad $400M. He's going to be the next Pujols or Chirs Davis for the Blue Jays. Very bad defense with slightly above league average offense for 1B is not worth 400M.
goldbug103 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I would entertain trades for Fatty G. Better yet just blow up this team and its ridiculous 240 M payroll but with a different GM.

Short of winning the World Series, how they handle the Bo and Vladdy contract situations may well be the defining points of the Shapiro/Atkins era. Whether it involves trading or signing it will impact this team for the rest of this decade. Interesting times ahead.
keggy Verified Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 How come it's the PCL? Actually after hearing more info today, it sounds like patellar tendonitis
tossingthiscoin Verified Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 LOL Varsho has better fWAR and bWAR than Vladdy. Varsho: 0.8 fWAR / 2.0 bWAR Vladdy: 0.4 fWAR / 1.1 bWAR Vladdy is really something else...
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Vladdy still just as happy-go-lucky as ever. He's such a bum

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 The renovations though...... Renovations are bringing Rogers money, that's the most important.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 The renovations though...... Renovation money has nothing to do with the on field money at all, it's 2 different things, I don't get the comment?
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Renovation money has nothing to do with the on field money at all, it's 2 different things, I don't get the comment? Entertainment puts fans in the seats - hopefully Rogers keeps the payroll above $200M, but they don't have to.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Entertainment puts fans in the seats - hopefully Rogers keeps the payroll above $200M, but they don't have to. Yeah Rogers just cares about putting butts into the seats and having fans spend on food/beverages and merch. Obviously they want the Jays to win a World Series but at the end of the day, as long as they're making profits that's all that matters. If the Jays remain competitive every season, even if it means just challenging for a Wildcard every time or get knocked out in the ALDS, they still will fill the seats the following season. It's the same with MLSE from a business perspective. No matter if the Leafs get bounced in the 1st and 2nd rounds every season, they still make money. Fans will still pay huge amounts to attend games, spends hundreds on concessions in the arena, and on merch. Corporate will still buy out boxes etc.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 The Jays are right on the edge of the luxury tax limits. Why on earth are people suggesting that Rogers isn't committed to putting a winning team on the field? Winning in baseball is hard, there are a ton of variables. The Cubs went 107 years between championships, the Red Sox went 87. It sucks as a fan, but sometimes there isn't anyone to blame.
