What happened??

 

Grant got a 24-hour timeout last week for posting about "radical LGBTQ activists" after everyone was warned and like 12 people had already been banned, is still mad about it, and will now spend a few days thinking about what he's done.

The next 15 game stretch before the AS break is critical. We need to shoot to be at least 10 games over .500 by the break. We need to go 10-5 over that stretch. We have some very beatable opponents during this stretch. We need to go on a run now if we have any chance at winning the division. TB is scuffling right now and we need to make up some ground.

 

I thought the exact same thing today looking at the next 15 games. 10-5 would change the perception so far leading into the AS break. If they scuffle it’s going to be really difficult to make up lost ground.

These are all winnable series with the not outlandish chance of sweeps against Oakland, Detroit and Chicago. 9-6 would be the absolute minimum I would see as acceptable as the Boston series will be tough regardless.

Vlad, Kirk and Manoah combined for 10.7 fWAR last season, and 9.0 fWAR in 2021.

 

Combined for 0.5 fWAR so far this season with Manoah out of the league and Vladdy in full reverse.

 

This team is missing 4-5 wins right now from 3 of their core homegrown players who all happen to be.....not in prototypical athletic shape.

Anyways, nice series win after getting shellacked 11-0 in the opener, and still in the hunt with lots of ball to play and time for Vlad/Kirk to get their s*** together.

This is certainly not a baseball move, given that they obviously caved to public pressure from radical LGBT activists.

 

That being said, it's probably not hugely detrimental to the team. Bass hasn't been great and we have some interesting relief arms to bring up. I'm happy to be rid of the distraction.

 

Also, I don't care enough about you to lie, Grant. This was the post. I'm not sure how you didn't see the timeout coming given that you posted it after a multiple warnings and many bans had already occurred, but I recommend sucking it up and moving on.

This team certainly deserves criticism leveled their way, but so much of the criticism is so over the top it's ridiculous. Fire the GM, fire the manager, fire the team president, fire the mascot etc. Despite the uneven play they still find themselves within striking distance of the wildcard at a single game back. The way the board carries on lately you would think we have been watching an all time bad team like this current edition of the Oakland A's, or an actual disaster level potential contender like the Cardinals.
