Looking at Belt's numbers I see mostly luck in 2020-2021 but still likely an above average hitter... hopefully that keeps up at 35 y/o. 27% HR/FB in 2022 is pretty extreme... and 2021 was mostly BABIP plus a little HR/FB... maybe teeing off some s***** pitchers, not sure. Strike out rate up quite a bit might suggest he made a decision to try and hit more homeruns and it worked in 2022 but last season it didn't really.

Worked till 66 and loved what I did as an architectural designer. Just the crazy hours and increasing stress got to me. Talking with others in the industry, it's a common issue.

It could also suggest a really big knee injury that was a major problem.

I have no idea but it’s hard to imagine a better one. You’re running two elite CF’s and another one who’s above average. Watching them in the outfield is gonna be a blast this year

Wells - Rios - Johnson was a really good defensive alignment at times. That's probably as close as you can get. Johnson was like a poor man's Pillar, prime Wells was smooth as f***, and Rios had range and a cannon.

 

Maybe one of the years with Barfield and Moseby was excellent in all three positions? Probably just two spots though.

Yeah i thought about that also, but usually the 3rd guy was George Bell, and he was like Manny Ramirez level bad in the OF. Even in the prime WS seasons, White was out there being awesome while Joe Carter butchered RF and Candy Maldonado sucked in Left, then Henderson in LF the nest year and he was terrible at D by that point.

I would love to see even more righty protection around Varsho (2 RHB ahead and 2 RHB behind). Basically make it as difficult as possible for the manager to bring in a lefty just for Varsho.

 

The way the lineup is constructed today you can bring in a lefty to face Varsho-Kirk-Belt.

 

If Chapman stays consistent using the whole field, you can move him to the sixth spot and Belt at seven.

I know Mayza is our only lefty in the pen but I think he should pack his bags and head to Buffalo. Pearson has to be better than him and Swanson and Richards can be the "lefties" given their splits. LHP in the pen isn't as important anyway with the 3 batter rule. They often seem to run into more trouble than they are worth with that rule in place.

 

Mayza is fine as an up and down guy but he just doesn't have good stuff and Schneider trusts him way too much. Pack your bags Tim!

K, so did some digging on Twitter to see if Peyton Williams, that giant 1b tank that smashed a ball off the wall in one of those last ST games had a nickname.

 

He is apparently known as "Manny", as in Manny the Mammoth from Ice age.
