Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Jim's on his knees, owns him in 3 leagues. He and connor are cut from the same cloth, apparently Bauer's the biggest piece of s*** on the planet, but Franco gets a pass, weird fella. If Franco started a relationship with a 14 yr old when he was 21, he's not getting a pass from me. I do have an issue with Bauer, yes, along with any other man that is physically abusive to women. I just find it weird that those that present Bauer as innocent, also present Franco as guilty.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Anyway I don’t really care that much I’m just glad we finally have it on paper that Jim said if he was 21 and started a relationship with a 14 year old he doesn’t get a pass from him. I believe this is the first time we have this confirmation
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 I find it funny that those who present Franco as innocent also presented Bauer as guilty I have never expressed that Franco is innocent, nor have I have said Bauer is guilty. If you think otherwise, show the receipts.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/32119416/will-trevor-bauer-ever-pitch-again-next-los-angeles-dodgers-mlb The above link refers to a phone call taped by police where there is apparently an admission of activity contrary to MLB policy. I expect the entire call, and all other information, was available to the independent arbitrator. I don't think the latest allegations, from this past June, have been posted. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2023/06/13/trevor-bauer-new-sexual-assault-allegation-arizona/70319689007/ Bauer now has a history of allegations by 4 separate women, all of which are of a similar vein: violence against women. Not hard to see why he might never pitch in MLB again. Because (1) it is likely that other women will come forward, and (2) Bauer is likely to continue the behaviour. That article was from early Feb 2022 and then they had to update it. I don’t see anything except the initial BS. It appears all they have is that he admitted to punching her in the ass.

This is in effect an acceptance of the arbitrator's decision that he violated MLB's policy.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 (edited) Bauer can sue MLB over the suspension and loss of many millions of dollars. He has not. This is in effect an acceptance of the arbitrator's decision that he violated MLB's policy. I think he has not is very premature. He might need to see if he gets signed by an MLB team to be able to have an understanding of damages which is key in a civil lawsuit. If Bauer gets signed to an MLB team for this upcoming season, he could only claim damages on the portion of his suspension the Dodgers didn't pay plus some other restitution. If he can't get signed by a MLB team in the near future, then he could claim lifetime of potential MLB earning plus the amount he already lost. Edited December 16, 2023 by Carlos Danger
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 3 have made allegations. The details of when each relationship started, and even if there was one, and how old Franco was when it started, are unknown to us. But again, when the age difference is 3-4 years usually nothing happens, DR, Canada, or USA. If Franco was 21 and started a sexual relationship with a 14 yr old, that's a whole different matter. Gotta love completely throwing your morals out the window because you own a guy in fantasy

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Gotta love completely throwing your morals out the window because you own a guy in fantasy Agreed. Very sick and depraved behavior.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Gotta love completely throwing your morals out the window because you own a guy in fantasy You have to explain this comment. You think Franco is a pedophile because he started a relationship when he was a minor with a girl 3-4 years younger, and the relationship continued when he became an adult? Franco absolutely is a pedophile if he was 21 and had a sexual relationship with a 14 yr old. Facts matter.

BlueJays Verified Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Wow. $300 million offer for Yamamoto from Giants and Red Sox.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Wow. $300 million offer for Yamamoto from Giants and Red Sox. That's the cost of doing business. Rogers will come in at $280m....close enough to be "right there".
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 That's the cost of doing business. Rogers will come in at $280m....close enough to be "right there". LOL, he could be a better pitcher than Othani plus he's young. I hope the Jays get this one.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 LOL, he could be a better pitcher than Othani plus he's young. I hope the Jays get this one. He's not going to Toronto. We've all seen this movie before.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Yanks will go 310 Dodgers unknown. Imanaga is getting a lot of hype
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 LOL, he could be a better pitcher than Othani plus he's young. I hope the Jays get this one. There's no real reason for us to. Very risky signing at those prices when there's other high end options available with MLB track records.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Wow. $300 million offer for Yamamoto from Giants and Red Sox. Insane for a 5’10” NPB pitcher. He may very well be good but giving Gerrit Cole money to a guy who has never thrown a MLB pitch and has that build is dumn. Hopefully the Giants get him and it takes them out of the running for Chapman and Bellinger which in turns lowers their prices. Or the Red Sox or Yanks and they get saddled with what will surely be an albatross contract at some point.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 I think its more likely he’s guilty than innocent. You don’t seem to care about the FACT that he has multiple accusers And how does this equate moral turpitude on my part? If you don't think my position is reasonable, explain why not. I'm basically taking the same position I did with Bauer, it depends on the facts. In Franco's case, it depends on the relative ages and the nature of the relationships.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 When is the soonest Wander will be back?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 When is the soonest Wander will be back? Your guess is as good as mine There is the possibility the Rays will not want him back and attempt to trade him (like the Dodgers did with Bauer), and if no takers, he will be released. Rays will have to do the unthinkable for them and eat a shitload of dollars. Depends on the facts.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 That's the cost of doing business. Rogers will come in at $280m....close enough to be "right there". Until they say “ok, we’ll take the $280m”… then it’s like “mmm..ok..sure..uh we’re going to push this with the board next week”

I think they’ll wait it out and trade him when he’s allowed to play. Whether its in a year or 3 years
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Trevor Bauer was an ******* long before those charges and has a long history of being abrasive, being a s***** teammate, and being a headache with his stupid political opinions. Most teams just don’t want anything to do with a guy like that, much like Puig. The Bauer apologists love to pretend he was canceled just because of one girl’s subsequently dropped accusations, and that’s simply not true. Which players said he was a s***** teammate? Bauer’s political opinions are much more mainstream than yours outside of your little shelter bubble
