A s***** Bronco? Those things fold in half in accidents. At least get him the beefy version.

And it took him a full year to pay up. Lindor is a bad teammate, and borderline welcher.

Does anyone know if the posting fee counts against a team's payroll and the Balance tax?

Yamamoto's posting fee could be around $40 million and was wondering how it would affect payroll like $4m a year for 10 years (assuming it's a 10-year deal)?

No, that money goes to the Buffaloes of the NPB.

This should have been thoroughly researched, really hope the league is listening to him

If you think for millisecond that MLB isnt watching all of this stuff extremely closely and needs a pitcher to let them know of anything that some random surgeons say, you're dreaming.

Always knew sherzer was a whiny bitch. Velocity is way up last couple decades and guys like George Kirby/young pitchers in general are just softer. It’s the whole generation that’s the problem. Ungrateful.

I'm dreaming then.

Im not sure how this conclusion could be made after 1 season

Maybe you aren't aware of this but there is more than 1 time zone in this world, so maybe I'm not posting at 2AM. Besides that, I'm not sure why this is of such concern to you if I'm up late on a weekend. Even my mother wouldn't be so concerned about that so I guess I should be thankful for your concern.

I guess I just noticed that you kept railing on for signing primarily s***** hitters to boost the offense lately that I may have gotten confused about what you wanted the team to do. Seriously, the last 3 signings I recall you advocating for were for the likes of the 3 I listed, including a passionate defense about signing Josh Donaldson. I don't know if Atkins can afford to take many if any gambles on unlikely bounceback candidates this offseason given the pressing need to add offense to the lineup. He's done a good job signing short term free agents of this nature but all of the guys he signed had typically experienced only one rough season, including the likes of Semien, Belt and Kiermaier.

Lmao at your time zone response.

If you've actually read through a lot of my other posts, I've been pretty active in discussions regarding offseason moves and have advocated for the Jays to target solid players like Juan Soto, Rhys Hoskins, Jorge Soler, Teo Hernandez, Paul Goldschmidt (if the Cards were selling), Pete Alonso, and I could go on. Heck, I'm even on the Ohtani train if Atkins could make it happen! But sure, I recently suggest some names to go after if they come cheap and who wouldn't be bad as last resorts, though I guess that outlines my top offseason targets in your eyes. Where did I say or suggest Atkins could afford to take all those gambles as well? Obviously the Jays aren't the Oakland A's, but I'm sure the Jays take a gamble on a bounce back candidate somewhere if they can't get their top targets. Again, you're trying to twist my words around in order to pick an argument for no reason to make yourself sound superior. All at 2AM on a weekend as well haha.

Maybe mention these names in March then. Weird to bring up these names now.

It's a baseball forum FFS. I'm actually mentioning names and trade ideas to try and spark offseason discussion. You should go back and read a lot of my other posts to see that those names weren't the only names I have mentioned. But sure I recently comment on Joey Votto, or Josh Donaldson, or a non-tender candidate like Austin Meadows and suddenly those are my top targets for the offseason lol.

Don't even bother with Max. He's too busy rimming Ross to know any better. Some people just defend and argue just for the sake of it. Fact is that in eight years and with an upper tier payroll, this management team has accomplished nothing with no evidence of sustainable winning in the future.

Yeah I really don't bother any more with some of these guys. It's not worth it. They've made this message board insufferable at times and are the reason why we aren't getting new posters and why some posters have stopped posting as much as they have. It's good to have discussion and debate respectfully, but guys like Max love to just argue and act snobbish for the sake of it.

Hall of Fame ballot was unveiled yesterday.

Adrian Beltre leads the list. He should get in on the first ballot no questions asked!

Will be interesting to see what happens with Joe Mauer down the road. If he makes his way into the HOF in a couple of years, should be a good sign for Russell Martin.

Would be nice to see Beltran and Wagner get in this year or next. They're both close.

Bautista eligible now for the first time. Can't believe he's been out of baseball for 5 years already.

I don't know if I see Mauer as a comp for Martin at all. Mauer has the MVP, multiple gold gloves, silver sluggers and batting titles. But he ended his career as a first basemen/DH. I think many view him in a much higher standing than Martin.

Martin wasn't nearly as good a hitter but was a catcher until the end. His accolades are significantly lower with just one gold glove and one silver slugger.

Yeah Martin will have a difficult path, but even Martin has a higher career WAR than Mauer and played behind the plate over his entire career and didn't have to move off to another position. But yeah Mauer had some more outstanding and eye popping seasons offensively where he was one of the best in the game with the stick.

Beltre is getting in first ballot. Helton very likely to get in this year too. And probably Wagner.

It's amazing how big of a difference there is between Fangraph's and BRef for WAR in some cases.. Mauer is quite a bit higher in WAR on Bref but Martin is higher on FG.

I think it has to do with catcher defense…. Framing maybe? I don’t know but there is a variable that is more pronounced in bWAR that impacts the calculation. Someone smarter than me will have the answer soon

BRef for catchers sort of kind of includes cERA

fWAR is the better WAR for hitters and it's not close IMO

but there are arguments against fWAR for pitchers. It just uses FIP. That can be dumb for many pitchers. e.g. guy plays his whole career in a park his whole career where homers are 13% more likely, fWAR just assumes every HR was all his fault! obviously not fair
