jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 So weird how today is an off-day for a lot of teams around baseball. Not a full slate of games today.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 They moved a bunch of the Sunday games to Saturday in hopes to avoid Hurricane Hilary Ah that's why there were a lot of doubleheaders yesterday. Got it!

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 After a slow start with the DBacks Pham slugging .633 over the last 7 games and starting to pick it up. We'll see if the nutcase can keep it up. Season OPS+ 123. Could have used that bat in this line vs LHP.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 100% wanted him here, Grichuk on the other hand hasn't done much Wasn't too keen on Grichuk coming back. On another note I saw a stat today that Elvis Andrus has 2069 career hits. Didn't expect that. I'll always be grateful to him for 2015 Gm 5 vs TEX.

Yet Varsho over one week hit .316 so all is forgiven for his awful April, May, June and July
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Couple of Blue Jays spies trying to sewer Seattle today. Saucedo give up some runs now Thornton in... let's see if he gets f***ed. Seems like Hancock got hurt
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 We are 0.5 games back of the Mariners and 1 game behind the Astros. There's a chance the Astros to miss the playoffs.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Yankees just lost their 8th straight

The Jays own the tiebreaker over the Astros but not over the Mariners. So the Jays are actually closer in the standings to the Astros now. If all 3 finish in a 3 way tie, then the Mariners and Jays would advance as both own the season series over the Astros. Rooting for the Astros demise seems more fun anyway.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Yankees just lost their 8th straight Have to think they shut down Judge soon.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Have to think they shut down Judge soon. Yeah by the time we play all those games against them at the end of the year they might be scaling back Cole, Judge and others.

Glad the Astros are now more within reach Hoping to see the Rays fall back too with all the players they have MIA but their schedule is a little easy over the next 10 days too
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Yeah by the time we play all those games against them at the end of the year they might be scaling back Cole, Judge and others. I don't think the Yankees will sit Cole since he is a legit cy-young candidate.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 The Rangers are still in play, Tampa Bay is still in play for teams that could end up missing the playoffs, that's the level of competition. And there was some people who actually thought the path to the playoffs would be relatively easy this year, and this is with the Yankees all but out of it, though Boston is hanging tough also.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 The playoffs will be easy to make.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 The playoffs will be easy to make. The playoffs are never actually easy to make are they

hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Orioles padding some stats vs the A's Gunnar is a single away from the cycle
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Gunnar Henderson with his 4th extra base hit so he won't get the cycle. he needed a single and ended up with a dobule This team is firing on all cylinders Braves Dodgers Orioles .... what company
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Orioles padding some stats vs the A's Gunnar is a single away from the cycle Gave up the cycle to add another double instead. While being up 11-1
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Respect to Gunner for not holding up at first for a single and the cycle, instead he pretty easily took second for the double. The dugout was all over him on why he didn't stop at first. Gunner plays the game the right way, looks good on the kid.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 couldn't hold up on that, clear double
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Gunner is hitting sixth in the top of the ninth. It'll be cool if he gets another shot at the cycle. I think he deserves it and the baseball Gods should make it so.
