Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 FTJ is going through a Springer like slump the past few weeks, just terrible. Can you use normal names when referring to players? I had to take the unnecessary step of googling FTJ (which resulted nothing of note) and then FTJ baseball before I figured out who you were talking about.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Can we make playoffs considering the Mariners are on fire? No. Pack it in and tank for next year
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Ohtani is now in the Top 6 in the triple crown stats for BOTH hitting and pitching. Insanity.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2023 Author Posted August 11, 2023 Yep and it starts way before pitchers enter pro ball Kids, whose arms are still developing, are pitching way more than they used to. Instead of taking breaks from pitching and playing other sports to give their arms a break, they keep pitching nearly year round. They’re also throwing breaking balls way younger. Kids arms are being broken before they ever get to college, then tortured even more by college coaches. Pitch counts in the majors are just the last line of defense.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 absolutely I do. Who else would come close in baseball history? Off the top of my head Barry Bond's 2001, 2002 and 2004 seasons were the best I witnessed in my lifetime, but just with the bat and defensively. Babe Ruth did pitch earlier in his career with the Red Sox but stopped pitching with the Yankees. He never really had both an MVP and Cy Young type season in the same year as we're witnessing with Ohtani.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Didn't he JUST come back from a long IL stint??
Ehjays Verified Member Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Didn't he JUST come back from a long IL stint?? Yep, I think he threw 4 or 5 innings in one start and back to IL he goes. Unfortunately, it couldnt happen to a better team.

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Waino gonna hang them up tonight? Not the way he wanted it to end It's just sad at this point. I can't see how anyone benefits from him starting another game.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Cal Raleigh 2 run bomb... Welp. Mariners get good pitching and timely hitting at the right time of season. Meanwhile the Jays got their heads firmly stuck up their ass and pissing away the post season.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Waino gonna hang them up tonight? Not the way he wanted it to end I don't understand why he even came back this year. Last year would have been a perfect way to end it. This year has been a disaster.

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Gibson got his tits lit... looking like the M's will pull within a half a game back. Baltimore is going to win 95+ games and go into the playoffs with a #2 starter with an ERA pushing 5. Absolutely embarrassing.
