G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Stanton clearly already injured enough that he can swing a bat but can't run. At all. Desperate times in Yabkeeland.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Oakland DFA'd Ramon Laureano Would be a good pick up for a 4th OF. A’s are playing games.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Oakland DFA'd Ramon Laureano I would pick him up to use exclusively against Lefties.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Oakland DFA'd Ramon Laureano A very A's thing to do. If another team takes him the money they will save!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Laureano against Lefties this season is hitting .290 with near .800 OPS with good Defense and Arm. Perfect platoon bat.

He'd be a good pickup, although I do wonder how much playing time would be available to him. Merrifield has been spending a ton of time in left field and has been hot with the bat lately. Schneider deserves an extended look at second base to find out what he can do at the big league level so that limits how much time Merrifield would play at second base. The team seems to like to run with one of Kiermaier/Varsho in center field at all times so I don't think they would use Laureano there much. I suppose Laureano could spend a bit of time in right field and left field with occasional pinch hit duties sprinkled in to spell Springer occasionally.

Looking at the roster as is…it would probably be Espinal that would be the odd man out in a hypothetical Laureano pickup. With DeJong here being the superior glove and Biggio being left handed and still capable enough to play several positions in a pinch, my guess would be Espinal hitting the bricks. That would leave a bench / rotation of DeJong, Varsho/Laureano/KK, Biggio and the Kirk/Jansen tandem. It doesn’t suck

The team recently gave Luplow the boot so upgrading to Laureano wouldn't hurt. How would acquiring him actually work though? I assume he'd have to first pass through waivers unclaimed, does he become a free agent at that point?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 This is straight up sad Holy???
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Oakland DFA'd Ramon Laureano Laika offered me this guy for Sewald, lol.

I think it would be the typical process, any team that wants him would put a claim in and the lowest ranked team that put a claim in would get him and assume his remaining salary. If he clears waivers then yeah free agent and the signing team would only be on the hook for the prorated minimum, athletics respnsible for the rest.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Ramirez had an issue with the play, looks fine to me ah, hard tag when he was already safe
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 so wait is there some history here ? Im thinking it has to do with the play yesterday where Anderson pushed Rocchio’s arm off the bag and it was reviewed as an out.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Holy s***! Oh damn, that was a good one. Anderson should ask for his 2nd baseman to pick up his hat, lol.
bronson44 Verified Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Damn Anderson squared up first and got rocked lol. Punk bitch.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Damn Anderson squared up first and got rocked lol. Punk bitch. At least he didn't throw a sucker punch
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Damn, just realized I'm going to lose J-RAM for nearly a week, how many games do you think these guys get 5???
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Ramirez a bit lucky, had his head buried and swung for the fences, but caught him.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Damn, just realized I'm going to lose J-RAM for nearly a week, how many games do you think these guys get 5??? Hopefully out the entire Jays series. That would be great.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Holy s***! Holy s***. That might end Anderson's terrible season. The suspension will be lengthy.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Ramirez is lucky he didn't break a finger with that s***** punch.
