glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 If the Angels sweep the DH today, then they would be 3 games back of the Jays for the last WC spot with 3 games head to head in Toronto this weekend. I wish the Jays were either winning the division (obviously) or in the top WC spot, because it appears that the most realistic way the Angels get in would be if the Jays miss out. If there is a way for the Jays and Angels to both make it in, then count me in. I just don't see it happening (for the Angels). They are not better than any team in the AL East, and not better than the Astros/Rangers either, so I don't see a realistic path for them other than to pocket the attendance revenue that Ohtani generates and then watch him leave.

Yeah and on top of all that, they have the 2nd hardest remaining schedule in the AL. The Orioles have the toughest.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 The playoff picture is pretty wild. No team is completely safe yet, not even the division leaders, except for the Braves. They could all miss the playoffs still.

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 Was hoping maybe the Tigers could wear them down a bit before playing us but it's just a cakewalk
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 Ohtani hits another bomb, he was grabbing at his side and grimacing right after he hit it and while rounding 2nd,... Ruh-Roh!!! Oblique injury incoming?

Ruh-Roh!!! Oblique injury incoming? Guess we wont know much until his next time up and see if they take him out. but t was very noticeable that he was grabbing his lower left side/back area But if it is, that's a good few weeks on the shelf minimum. hate to see it happen to Ohtani but i love seeing it happen to that idiot Moreno.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2023 Author Posted July 27, 2023 Never noticed. I hope hes not hurt, but it sure would be nice for that bat to be missing for the next 3 days. Doubleheader is supposed to f*** over a pitching staff and he went and pitched a friggin CGSO, maybe Detroit can do some damage to their pen for the rest of the 2nd game, seeing a pen only throw 4 innings in 2 games of a doubleheader is a clear win for the Angels.

Doubt it, lol. Holy... Neto's sick at SS. Oh, seeing as you're not live, Ohtani told the Angels staff and coach's he was fine after that bomb. His face looked different.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2023 Author Posted July 27, 2023 Offensive Substitution: Pinch-hitter Michael Stefanic replaces Shohei Ohtani. Might be precautionary only but still that's potentially good news for the Jays
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 Ohtani was pulled... let the shitstorm begin, lmao. They said he's out as a precautionary measure for cramping.

If he missed the series it would be great for the Blue Jays. But I am going to to the game tomorrow and kinda want to see him hit. Already missed out on watching him pitch.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 It would be the most Angels thing ever if Ohtani got injured now for an extended period of time
