Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 And it's official, German suspended 10 games for having stickier hands than wilko after perusing the Sports Illustrated Martha Stewart spread. A lot of good that does us yesterday.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Thus far TBR also has had a 5 year down cycle after their real good 2008-2012 run, now up and again though this upcycle might last decades (along with Baltimore) given they still have a great young core. However these down cycles happen for the good small market teams. Can't really blame Beane for team leaving, more like now that they are leaving they want to win 40 games a year for 23, 24 and 25 and then move immediately to 105 a year moment they hit Las Vegas. Agreed. A move to LV should give them the chance to turn the franchise around.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Padres suck and so do the Mets. It can be frustrating being a Jays fan but imagine being those fans right now. Mets rotation is in trouble and SD sold the farm for Soto who is a free agent after next year.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Mlbtr The Red Sox are moving right-hander Nick Pivetta into a multi-inning relief role, manager Alex Cora informed reporters after tonight’s win over the Mariners (relayed by Alex Speier of the Boston Globe). It’ll be his first bullpen work since Boston acquired him from the Phillies during the abbreviated 2020 campaign.

BTS Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Padres are the most overrated team. They suck. I wonder how concerned they are about Machado. 2 months into a 350M deal and his bat has completely fallen off a cliff. And now he has a broken bone in his hand.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 It's broken? After the game they said x-rays were negative, I guess an MRI revealed it? Yeah they’re saying minor fracture and they’re hoping to keep him of the IL. I don’t see how

The last couple of years though have been a frenzy and they'e handfing them out regularly again. In 2031, the following players will still be on long-term contracts: Plus of course almost certainly Ohtani Will be some ugly years on some of those deals

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Haha f*** the Mets and their $358 million payroll. Dipshits. Same with the Padres. Too bad the Jays couldn't land Xander though, that guys a stud. 2 fWAR already. Wasting away with those yellow trimmed turds.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Not the most important league around but the Canadian College World Series is in Lethbridge this long weekend and the Lethbridge hometown team, the Prairie Baseball Academy is the #1 seed. I'll check out a few games and see if there's anyone that stands out. Adam Macko pitched in the league before he was drafted by Seattle and the Jays drafted a few guys out of here in the past, though none of them made it past AA that I'm aware of.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Yeah but how much have the AAVs changed really? Feels like in MBA and NFL, AAVs have gone up at least 50% in the last 6 years or whatever. Not sure about hockey bc this is America
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 For the most part, it seems like contracts in the NBA, NFL and MLB have gone up like crazy. NHL is actually pretty low in comparison.
