He got the under 9.5 K's on Bet365 last night haha. But still an unbelievable start!

Man, I wouldn’t feel good needing 10ks lol

Interesting.

How did the Rockies and Marlins initial draw work? Can’t remember

Interesting.

It is. I would think if MLB was going to expand they would want 2 teams to come in at a time. Given the current 30 clubs, theyd probably want to go to 32 rather than 31, for obvious reasons.

Salt Lake City would be a good place for a team to expand to though

Oakland being relocated probably is higher on the To-Do list for MLB, but them moving doesnt necessarily mean a change of ownership.

They'd likely want to western- located teams too... I'm thinking Vancouver would be great but there's just never any smoke there to indicate anyone is looking to make it happen

f***in Cordero man. Leaves Sox, goes to Yankees and is on some kind of power tear.

s***** left handed hitter goes to the Yankees and suddenly hits homeruns? Stop me if you've heard this one before....

Yeah same here. Wanted to bet Strider today but he's at 9.5 as well.

I usually bet if I find guys at good value around 4.5 or 5.5 K's. Or what I'll do is go under pitcher milestones and you can set the K total yourself. I'll sometime lower it to one or two below but you get worse odds obviously. Though if you do a parlay, that's the way to go.

Wish I picked him up in the LOD.

Let's hope he fizzles out and sucks like he did before.

I think Nashville is definitely an option for an MLB team.

Not sure a team would fly in Las Vegas, but hockey and football has.

Salt Lake City or maybe Portland or Vancouver out on the West Coast.

Don't think Montreal will get one since they're too close to Toronto and they would need a new ballpark.

I don't see why a team in Las Vegas wouldn't work. You'd probably need a dome stadium with lots of air conditioning, but hockey/football seem to be thriving there. I was in Vegas last week and the hockey games were completely sold out with crazy scalper prices. That said - does Vegas "slow down" in the summer because it's too f***ing hot? I guess it's too hot in Florida, Texas and Arizona too...

I guess it kinda makes sense since near the end of his tenure with Washington he was basically the only above average hitter in the lineup.

But now that he’s with SD you think he’d go back to his former self. Maybe he’s playing through injuries or something. Maybe a slow start again.

All I know is if I were a Padres fan i’d be pretty frustrated with him right now.

He can still do this:

Soto's 453-foot two-run smash

I had a new observation last night. Now that the pitch clock is reducing the duration of games, my 7 year old gets to watch a lot more of the game each night before bed. Will that help grow the game? I don't know, but it can't hurt. I still remember the battles with my parents when I was a kid "one more inning mom!"

Sometimes the little things can have a big impact.

Could’ve copy/pasted meat and potatoes

In contrast to previous expansion drafts, players from both the American League (AL) and National League (NL) were available to the expansion clubs.[1] Each existing club could protect 15 players on their 40-man roster from being drafted and only one player could be drafted from each team in each round. At the end of each round, NL teams could protect an additional three players and AL teams could protect an additional four. To further protect the AL teams, a maximum of eight AL teams could have three players chosen.[8]

Yeah I'm not sure what Vegas is like during the summer months in terms of tourism, but would be freakin' hot for sure. Might be their low season in terms of tourists. Would need an indoor ballpark like Arizona for sure. If they build a world class ballpark and the team starts winning, don't see why not.

Shocked the NBA hasn't moved a team to Vegas yet.

It's nice and refreshing to see the game move at a better pace and not take 3 + hours anymore. I could watch a west coast game now at 9:30 PM and expect it to be over by midnight at least.

That's why I always loved watching Doc and MB pitch. Both always worked fast and kept a great pace when on the mound.

I think everyone loved watching those 2 pitch! I've heard people say they like it when watching from home, but if they go to the game in person, they want it to last a little longer. Highly doubt I'd ever say that, but some might.

He’s been a mess since the trade. He’s doing what dumb Reds complained that Votto did: going up looking for a walk. It’s hard to watch.

It’s weird and frustrating. In my only paid keeper league I traded Freeman + Bryant for him when I joined and he’s barely helped me since

I think Soto just has a case of the Vlad-itis. He was also putting a few too many balls into the ground. Last season it sort of appears as if he tried to fix it, but in the process went too far in the opposite direction as his FB and IFFB rate shot up, so his BABIP tanked as well. I think he'll regress, he's still walking at an incredible clip, not striking out very much and hitting the ball hard. Once he gets his swing in order and his luck stabilizes he'll be back to being a monster. Hell he had a .406 xwOBA coming into this game, and that's before he homered and doubled today to bring his ISO to .260.

Soto is fine. It's just a bit of overcorrection on his part combined with some bad luck.

Yeah I agree. He's too good to not figure it out and return as a beast.

Seems he still likes hitting @ Citi Field against the Mets

Its a dry heat, 80 in Philly is worse than 110 in Vegas
