Rule #8 has been there since the rules were handed down, by God. I think there are good reasons it is in there.

We enforce the rules within the social context of the message board. Typically we don't care if a community member is critical of the mods because they are either joking, in part, or it's legitimate criticism.

But TL is arguably not even a community member at this point. He doesn't even engage here; he basically just, infrequently, double posts s*** he creates for other communities.

I don't know about you guys but if some guy I haven't seen in years shows up and starts to take a dump in my backyard, I'm grabbing the garden hose.

The issue I have with the banning of TL, and I'm not sure if more was going on as I'm not reading through the backlog, is that this could apply to someone like myself who has been here since May of 2013 and despite doing like 100 posts a year I'm around. If something bullshitty happens and I actually see it I'll call it out.

As an edit:

It shouldn't matter how infrequently a poster posts if they're generally contributing when they are active. If someone is calling out racist ******** like TL did regardless of it being an inside joke it should be called out.

That is why I always enjoyed his posts, doesnt matter if double posts. Not everything here needs to be sole property of this message board.

I didn't even care that he pointed out the post, really. I was even the one to delete it because it should have been deleted.

It was the follow up post about a mod finally doing their job. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but the tone of that was just blatantly disrespectful.

I doubt you'd ever do that. Like, you'd have to change a lot for me to start reading your posts as antisocial, haha.

That's not really the point.

The point is that when someone who doesn't even engage here shows up and immediately disparages the moderation - the conduct is antisocial.

If tercet showed up tomorrow and started slinging mud at the mods, he'd be gone in an instant.

I don't think moderation is simply a decision on (1) ban or (2) not ban.

There were other ways to deal without resorting to the hammer, i.e., delete the post and cease and desist warning.

But I defer to our esteemed mods.

It’s entirely realistic that he, and others, would post more if it was a better environment.

O/U 100 of this guys 1000 posts being complaints about the mods or this forum in general? If you don't like it, instead of being a Karen and demanding the place change to your liking, just go somewhere else.

It's ironic that yesterday you called for consistency from the moderators, because based on yesterday's precedent, that would mean you should be banned for the same reason as TL.

Environment curated.

Who is making demands? I do post elsewhere sooo..

You are correct.

I know TL posts on Reddit a lot. Is it a significantly better environment than this? I'm baffled that you consistently bitch about this forum. From my perspective, this is a fun, entertaining place where I learn a s*** ton about baseball. I'm a lifelong baseball fan, player, coach, etc. - yet have learned more about the MLB from this board than anywhere else.

The only consistent thing I see in here are people ripping people who are very outspoken about outdated views/opinions (like we need to target hitters who get lots of RBI's). I think the mods do a good job at keeping the BS banter to a minimum. You seem like the baseball dad who's always complaining about the coaching staff, expecting perfection - just slings s***.

Ok. I have no opinion of you. It’s a baseball messageboard. Not life. It’s what I scroll through when I take a s***. Before I wipe with charmin.

Exactly - exactly why it seems odd that you consistently complain about this 'environment' and how awful it is. If you don't like it, play Candy Crush instead.

Reddit is a lot more active but the membership is a lot more casual and reactionary which makes it frustrating. There are a handful of good posters who are quite knowledgable and would fit in well here but the large majority are like "but he hits .250 he sucks" or "Bo is a bad and should be released".

It's more heavily moderated than the BJMB is which has it's pros and cons.

Reddit just is not a good forum for long-form, smart discussions.

I think we do a pretty good job at curating a certain type of community.

Easy there Elon.

That's what makes this board so good. And we have GDT's for people like that to vent into the abyss.

Reddit is designed so that it’s mostly a bunch of anonymous people shouting into the void. Here, you can have more of a back and forth and build a rapport with the other members.

I took tercet out behind the proverbial woodshed like 4 years ago.

As a proud member of the so called "Freedom Caucus" as Deadpool labeled us, I have consistently been opposed to bans.

In this case I would like to point out a few things - TL quit the board on his own volition and made it very public he was quitting with basically a F U guys I'm, out.

Then he pops back in after no posting a comment in months, with some race baiting BS and going after a Mod who actually did do what he accused him of not doing.

So, in this context, I think Laika made the right decision.

I will never agree and will always stand up for banning someone because they have a different baseball philosophy then you, or what some self proclaimed King of the boards think should be the standard group think.

So even if I don't agree, I would never support a ban for baseball opinion.

In this case, and in totality, I support the Mod and the decision. For three get out of a ban for free cards, I will also give my endorsement to the Mod for the next Mod election cycle...

This whole thing between Terminator and TL is the fault of Greg Bird.

Lol I forgot about that. Yeah TL threw a hissy fit when Greg Bird didn't make the team and was actually finding some support on the board.

When I decided to nip that in the bud (similar to how I defeated the Bellinger Fanboys this offseason), TL lost his marbles. No idea why he was on Greg Bird's nuts so bad either. He hadn't posted a positive WAR in the big leagues since 2015.

but he hit 2 homers in ST off AAA journeymen and all of the sudden he was big league material? lmao

Of course, I was proven right when Greg Bird ended up hitting .218 with 6 homers in Scranton this year. He'll probably be selling insurance this year.

Greg Bird will still f*** with peoples heads somewhere when he has a .950 OPS next spring. That said, I wasn’t one of people jumping on the B-wagon

But I really have zero beef with TL. He's just an easy mark for The Sheriff because he (1) sets things up on a tee and (2) is hypersensitive. I like his Gameday Threads and that fancy spreadsheet of his is pretty cool.

Plenty of others take s*** from me in stride. StankyLeg and CaptainObviouslyADumbass are good sports and my arch nemesis Jim is a great sport about it all. If TL would just take a chill pill he'd be fine.

I use Reddit and am subscribed to the Blue Jays subreddit. It kind of sucks. There are some decent posters there spreading the gospel of advanced stats to the ignorant masses but it's mostly a ton of knee jerk casuals in there. Funny enough, I've ran across TL's posts there before. The last time was when we traded Nick Frasso. He threw a fit similar to his Greg Bird meltdown and called Frasso a future superstar. I think he actually managed to get some downvotes on that one.
