The inverse of this would be trading three years of Jordan Romano for one year of Mitch Haniger

People would be PISSED if that happened

Can’t please everybody

And including a top 10 prospect.

Any chance they are going after Judge, and really going all in? Imagine Judge replaces Teo, don't think anyone would be too upset with that.

I wonder how the reaction would be different if the prospect coming back was an outfielder in High A rather than a pitcher.

Do you always look at things glass half empty?

Yes... when the front office actually accomplishes something, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I'm a Raptor fan and you should see how I react to moves because Masai is the one pulling the trigger. Shatkins have not earned that yet...

The chances of the Jays signing Judge are about the same as ..... 0.

Lol stop. I'm not even sure if want anything to do with the contract Judge is about to get. He'll probably return to his injury prone self now once he gets paid lol.

Hopefully the follow moves are nice because the current Outfield situation is kinda rough. Plus a huge bat removed from the lineup. A lineup that needed to ne added to not subtracted from.

I will be in wait and see mode but not a fan as of now.

I don't think they go after Nimmo. That makes the most sense considering need/fit (LHH, CF) but adding another $100m FA contract to a 30+ year old when the payroll is already tightening up doesn't seem all that likely. If they are keeping Springer in CF, then I think the Jays go hard after Conforto, but if they are moving Springer to RF, then it becomes a bit more tricky. Maybe there's a catcher for Nootbaar type of trade on the horizon.

If we consider the ticket price for higher end relievers in the current market and factor in the years of control this is a win for the Jays. Hopefully it is just the first domino in a string of moves before spring training. It’s not a sexy move but it’s logical.

We didn't trade Teoscar for Swanson and Macko

We traded 1 year of Teoscar for 3 years of Swanson plus potentially 6 years of Macko.

With only one year of control left on Teoscar, and declining numbers (increased K rate), Teoscar doesn't have a lot of value left.

Waiting until the all-star break will significantly diminish his value, particularly if he has a slow start.

Atkins is trying to build a sustainable team. You do that by trading guys with one year of control (and some value) away for prospects and players with more years of control left.

However, with both him and probably Tapia gone, we do need to bring in a quality outfielder in a big way.

But spanky said jays don’t want to get prospects in trades. They want “immediate help! Now!”

Yeah. I think people have been a bit spoiled by all of the recent major FA signings. They're at a point now where they actually need to be mindful of payroll. This Teo trade was the first move they've made in this current contention window that was about $ as much as on-field considerations.

Logical trade but you hate to be filling out the bullpen by trading a cleanup hitter. Wish we could develop a single reliever.

We need left handed hitters not another righty

If the plan is indeed to try and bring in a CF

And if they aren't in on Nimmo

There is not much out there in FA. Probably looking at the trade route or trying to get KK on a one year deal later in the offseason.

The only big FA signing is going to be Carlos Correa, after we trade Bichette for Acuna.

If Swanson was a sure thing out of the pen then it'd be easy to swallow but you can't fault me for expecting volitility from a bullpen arm who's had 1 great year. Did we really need to get ripped off in one move to make another? Didn't realize we were turning into a small market team here...

What the f*** are you talking about? All teams suffer when they get stuck with s***** long term risky deals. Give the price of top relivers, I MUCH prefer the Jays identifying someone they think can be a stud out of the bullpen who has good control and doesn't cost $10-$12M per year.....especially when it appears the market for corner OFers won't be nearly as hot (because it rarely, if ever is). This is a much better use of resources - even if relivers are volatile.

Brandon Nimmo is Dexter Fowler change my mind

Fowler from age 25 - 31 was really good, but so ffar Nimmo has been quite a bit better. Still have 2 or maybe 3 good years before he turns into a pumpkin like Fowler did.

We won the trade lmao

2.4 WAR 1 year left player who is a declining fielder and needs to be at DH more for a 1.7 WAR 3 years left rising RP who could immediately help our backend BP situation

If we fill in RF with another positive player its a net positive in the deal without adding in the prospect.....

The f***? The Jays were 2nd in the AL and 4th in all of MLB in runs last year.

Nimmo would be a great get but I think we would be bidding against both NY teams so it would have to be an overpay. Why not go after Benintendi instead? That’s more of an Atkins type move. Benintendi would be a good fit.

I'm sure they'll look at all LHH OF but I would imagine the best case outcome is to bring in a true CF who hits from the left side.

Not a ton of FA options either way

Benintendi is kind of fugly / boring
