Looking at their usage for the season, Thornton was coming out regardless of who came in.

Rixhards threw an inning less. He might not have been meant to go the whole inning.

You have relievers, you have to use them all at some point within the bounds of how long they are supposed to go.

Fans of all teams complain about this kind of stuff even though every manager does it. If the smart teams didn’t do similar stuff I’d be more worried.

There are almost no situations where teams pull their long reliever after 23 pitches (especially when 19 of the pitches were strikes) when their starter didn't get out of the first inning.

That never happens.

Games where your starter threw 0.2 IP are exceptions when it comes to reliever usage. Teams have long relievers for literally those situations.

Are these YouTube people under the impression that the Royals are competing this year?

The live chat is f***ing cancer

A real manager wouldn't put up with the laziness of not running 100% after hitting the ball. Vladdy just standing there watching the ball...

Not going to lie. I agree with you here. While others here may not understand, its not just about running out that particular play, its goes deeper to the overall mentality of the player. Which in turn sets an example for the remainder of the team on whats acceptable.

JaysAllMighty may have posted an idiotic take but I'm really not a fan of editing someone else's comments. That power should literally never be used except for extremely rare circumstances where you need to add something to a thread OP or change a title or something.

Pretty blatant abuse of mod powers.

What’s the definition of a long reliever? Honest question. He’s thrown more than 2 innings once all year in Toronto or buffalo and that’s today.

I don’t understand the anger about using a guy who usually pitches 2 innings max (and usually less) for 2.1 innings.

I think in theory this sounds good but going 100% all the time or else results in injuries.

Better not run I might get injured? Really... too funny.

I stand by my hilarious use of the edit feature/edit comment.

There are like 70 rounds in a baseball draft. Why have we struggled so damn much to develop major league pitchers? Romano/Manoah and a bunch of turds for the most part after that.

This is false, or is that hyperbole? lol

Don’t sprint when it’s pointless to do so 99% of the time… in a game in early June… yea I’d prefer that.

So, you contend that a player should run out every play 100%? Solid single to left, bench the guy if he jogs to first! 441 homer, FLY around those bases or feel the managerial wrath! Double in the gap, if you don't take a HARD turn towards third and force that throw you are GOING TO JAIL!

100% at all times, or your manager should berate you!

That play was going to either a) be a homer, or B) be caught.

In the unlikely event that it was an error or like, hit off the top of the wall, Vladdy would have gotten to 2nd without issue, even without going full bore out of the batter's box.

Sure, Springer may have cost the team a run earlier by not hustling, but I'm not arguing that you should NEVER go 100%, just that it's not required on literally every play.

We seem to be good at pitching dev at the major league level. I’m not sure about the minors but that seems to be changing recently. Might take a while to percolate up.

Richards has been awful this season outside of a few good appearances. Feast or famine. He’s becoming borderline unusable.

I feel like that may get overturned on challenge, but man, what a slick looking play that was.

Edit: apparently not, that was super slick on both ends, but... hopefully that's nothing serious

It's changed since Shapiro overhauled everything.

Very disappointing game after complete domination in the first two, needed to save a few of those runs for today and use Kikuchi to mop up in the 9th inning of those two games instead of starting today

There are few bigger Chuckles detractors than I, but f*** right off with this. He could have run with the speed of Zimmer on coke and it would have made ZERO difference.

lol

Can't blame the ump too much as that was a bang-bang play but Springer is clearly safe. He looked safe to me live but I'm also biased.
