max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 I think we are close to the firing on all cylinders. Lots of players hitting well to great. Still some room for improvement The team is first in almost every major offensive category recently and top to bottom every player in the lineup is producing well above career averages. How do you realistically see further room for improvement compared to what we've witnessed recently?

How do you realistically see further room for improvement compared to what we've witnessed recently? Vlad, Bo, Teoscar, Gurriel still aren't at their top. Now in a given stretch this is close to the best as a group that can be expected, but it can be better if a few more hitters get back to how they were last season for long stretches

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Did you read his post, he even bolded their numbers? Yes. Now do you think this is the absolute best those can be?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Yes. Now do you think this is the absolute best those can be?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Yes. Now do you think this is the absolute best those can be? Your expectations are unrealistic if you think we're going to have any extended period of time where this many players are on this type of hot streak. I would agree that Vlad and Springer will go through a period where they are hotter than they are right now. But the chances of that aligning with Kirk posting a 307 wRC+, Bo sporting a 194 wRC+, Teo 174, Chappy 160, Lourdes 170, etc. etc. is incredibly low. There is a very good chance this is the best stretch this offense will go through this year - the question is just how long it will last. They are #1 or #2 in almost all offensive categories during this stretch...you think we can do better than that? C'mon man. If you're looking at the season total wRC+ #'s and suggesting Bo and Vlad will finish higher than they are right now, you're right, but typically hitters get hot at different times. Almost the entire team is hot right now. Enjoy it.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Serious. Vlad is getting closer, but still off a tad. Teo and Gurriel has 5 HRs on the year combined. Gurriel 0 in the last 30 days. Teo 2. Bo is the closest to last season, but still missing a lot of pitches he usually hits

The wRC+ is through the roof since May 24th from every player aside from Zimmer?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Yeah. Maybe read "Now in a given stretch this is close to the best as a group that can be expected" You just said it has room for improvement and can be better? lol... you're f***ed.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 So you're talking about dingers strictly? The wRC+ is through the roof since May 24th from every player aside from Zimmer? No not specifically HRs. That will add to it yes though. There is definitely more to add. Now the timing will rarely come together like now...but it can
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 You just said it has room for improvement and can be better? lol Cause it can. Doesn't mean its likley as a group. About 6 of 9 hitters aren't at their top. So it CAN be better and there IS room for improvement

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 You know what, I SAID GOOD DAY!!! All I see is the educational level of the board is dropping by the game
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 All I see is the educational level of the board is dropping by the game Okay Coach... too much flies over your head, especially in context...
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 I wasn't posting a lot in here last night but did anyone catch Tabler's dig at the Royals bullpen when he said that their relievers couldn't even get the ball over the plate in warm ups? lmao
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 All I see is the educational level of the board is dropping by the game Your expectations are unrealistic to the point of absurdity. I really don't think you are in a position to be commenting on the education level of other board members at the moment.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 wait wait wait did I see a graphic last game that said Toronto is #1 in baseball at pulling the ball? during this hot streak? who was it on this board that had a borderline mental breakdown saying that the team should pull the ball more?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Did you all see that graphic? Yeah, you called the pull percentage a while back. Yes, you nailed it. lol Yes... while you sniffed for it last night.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 ah nice I can't even find my post I want to go back and t-bag carlos danger and friends or whoever the f*** it was who disagreed
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 All I see is the educational level of the board is dropping by the game Unless you are referring to an influx of new posters, who have no education it is literally impossible for the education level of the board to drop. People can get more education but not less. What could be happening is perhaps Covid or the vaccine, or monkey pox or just age is causing cognitive decline in the board members. Though I doubt that, but if the board is indeed getting stupider, it is either new members lowering the average intelligence, or cognitive decline. Education can't drop. Like if you made to grade 11, you will always have made to grade 11.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 where did I get credit Did you mention pulling the ball more:confused:
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 ah nice I can't even find my post I want to go back and t-bag carlos danger and friends or whoever the f*** it was who disagreed I definitely disagreed that they needed to pull dat ball more, though I think Carlos wanted them to pull dat ball less. I thought they didn't need to pull it more or less, just maybe be more patient and wait for their pitch and hit it harder. Never really was impressed with the 'pull dat ball' teams of 96, 97, 09, and 10. Seemed like a good way to score 720 runs off of 250 homers, while the Yankess and Red Sox scored 870 runs off of 230 homers.

The graphic showed their pull percentage with a huge spike and they were #1 essentially in every offensive categories.
