No Springer? Better rest Jansen and Gurriel on the same day.

I think the best lineup gets played about once or twice a week.

Honestly Tapia isn't playing that bad as of late but Zimmer? Dude should be riding the bench and used as a late inning defensive/running sub. His name should NEVER be in the starting lineup.

Gurriel heating up, but riding pine. f***ing Chuckles.

There is no chance in hell this is a Chuckles decision. The kind of old-school morons that sit in the manager seats throughout baseball wouldn't rest their hottest hitters the same day their superstar is out. Most managers grew up in the "rub some dirt on it and play 162" culture.

This kind of thing only happens if the training staff/high-performance team are mandating rest-days for the players ahead of time and have passed the manager a schedule of when those off-days need to take place. In other words, Vladdy was likely always scheduled for a DH day today while Gurriel was always scheduled for an off-day today, even before they knew Springer would be out sick.

Most of it is

They mentioned on the broadcast that the front office gives Charlie a colour coded card for reliever availability. Red = no, green = yes, yellow = try to avoid.

I bet something similar happens with bats.

So today is probably a yellow for Vlad, which means he's the DH.

And then maybe a red for Gurriel, scheduled off day.

This is not a Get It Done lineup.

Don't back out now. The streak is riding on your shoulders.

Gross lineup.

Thankfully the last time we saw a lineup like this the team managed to erupt for 11 runs so all is not lost.

Really hope Vlad is not a red for the "season on the line" game in September.

Lefties have an OPS of .811 against Manoah on the year. No idea if the White Sox switch hitters are more effective when batting lefty or not but including them the White Sox have 5 lefties in the lineup today. Jays lineup doesn't look great.

I think we've got this but it could be a surprisingly difficult game for us.

Cueto's statcast numbers suggest to me that's he's largely been a beneficiary of the 2022 deadened ball. The Jays just roughed up yesterday's starter Kopech despite him entering the game with ace-like numbers, so I'm hopeful the lineup today can continue to work good patient at bats, while receiving the expected benefits from squared up baseballs as it appears as though the ball has really been flying in this series.

Hmmmm he has been clobbered by lefties in his career. Interesting.

Kind of makes sense based on his arsenal. Lots of 2-seamers and sliders with some 4-seam FBs mixed in, no real effective changeup. If he adds the change as a legitimate pitch then he'll be able to keep them more at bay.

Matt Carpenter just hit his third homer for the Yankees. This could be a huge pickup for them.

Angels getting blasted off of - Carpenter, Torres, and Judge (19)

What colour would Jansen be? We need to buy him a 1st base mitt so he can get into the lineup more.
