Laika Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 2015 Pillar would be perfect early career Kevin Pillar was the platonic ideal of many things. he needs to be a statue.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Man a dream scenario for Toronto would be Bellinger for peanuts. Even if he plays no better than 2022.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Yeah would prefer Bellinger (if non tendered) over Kiermaier if those were my options. Both would provide plus defense and baserunning, but at least you could pray that Bellinger is fixable and the bat might be average or better with some tinkering/luck. KK is what he is, and in his 30's now.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 What would Belly get on the open market? Like 1/12 + a 20M team option and small buyout?

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 I wonder if the Dodgers are working on trades with Bellinger. They could pay 6 million of his salary or whatever and could see what they could get when he's getting paid 1 year and 12 million.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 There's no way the D'Backs are trading Thomas here unless Kirk or Moreno are going to them. Not a chance.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 What would Belly get on the open market? Like 1/12 + a 20M team option and small buyout? Probably but I think he would want a pure one year deal.

I think they are absolutely working on trades and they will probably just keep him if they don't find a nice swap.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Colby Rasmus, I mean Cody Bellinger would have everyone pulling their hair out by May. Canada might be inticing to him, he looks stoned all the time. Scottsdale kid I’m pretty sure Maybe tell him to lay off the bong for a season and see what happens

If you just EXPECT him to do nothing other than play good D, run the bases well, and hit .210 while accidentally running into 20 homers.... it would be fine.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 lol, I don't think I've ever watched a player who looks high as f*** as consistently as Bellinger Seriously it looks like he just smoked a blunt before every single game. Eyes half closed, red as f***, swinging and missing at everything.

Ya I actually don’t disagree he would be fine. I wouldn’t want to pay him what it’ll cost though and that will be the limiting factor.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 I’d offer Bellinger 10M with a 20M option and a 2M buyout. No way he takes it but that feels about appropriate for what he’s projected to do.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 There are like, zero CF free agents after Nimmo and Kiermaier so you would def need to pay Bellinger SOMETHING. It will be interesting to see what happens. B prospect + Dodgers eat some money is reasonable. You get him, you get the upside, cost is known.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 I’d take Belly as a Wild Card. Not as the main Teo replacement

glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Bellinger is a Boras guy so there's likely no chance for a team option to be tacked on. Maybe a mutual option with a buyout but those are bogus anyway. If the Jays are looking for a legit starting CF option, then it's either Nimmo, Bellinger, Kiermaier, or trade. Even if Bellinger is a very flawed option, there isn't much there. I feel like the team that gives Nimmo $100+ million is going to regret it and I'd rather it not be the Jays, so the options beyond that are slim.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 I wonder what Michael Brantley will fetch this offseason. Not for CF, but for a 4th OFer/DH. He's a guy I'd be comfortable giving an everyday role too if Gurriel/Springer miss significant time. He's coming off shoulder surgery, so might be cheap, power was never really his thing anyway.

Merrifield, Biggio, Espinal should be adequate. Not sure that the gap between Brantley and one of those 3 is enough for it to make sense.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 What's wrong with Springer in CF? A good stop gap who can play CF would be Conforto. Get em' Atkins, well, if trades fall through.

He's above those 3 in my opinion, and consistently puts up a .360-.370 OBP.

If the Jays move Kirk, Brantley would make more sense as a 4th OF, primary DH. Certainly the value as a high OBP guy in the two hole is there.

I really think the team wants to avoid bringing in any more players who need to use the DH slot AT ALL. They already have Vlad, Kirk, Jasen, and Springer who use the DH slot on occasion and they have a LF with s*** defense. And now Horwitz on the 40 man. I could get behind a Brantley signing but really only if Kirk is being traded. And I don't want them to trade Kirk!

Does he suck now because he f***ed up his shoulder? Is that what they think is holding him back at the plate?

Basically says Bellinger's mechanics (and not dope) have changed due to injuries and puts most of the blame on the fractured fibula. Bellinger is basically learning to hit MLB pitching again with changed mechanics.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Can someone let me know why Brandon Nimmo is going to command so much money? Looking at the numbers its very whelming, unless I'm underplaying defensive stats
