JBJ, Zimmer, Tapia - have any been DFA/non-tenders/released?

 

That's our real logjam of inadequacy

 

In the MLB, Jays haven't done anything yet.They'll be cutting likely 4 or 5 guys, 3 guaranteed.

They seem to really like Whit but he makes the most money and maybe after the good finish to the year they can get more for him than they gave up? But again, they seem to like him a lot. Biggio, on the other hand, they clearly do not. I kid about him a lot but he was buried on the depth chart all year and couldn't even beat out Tapia for playing time. Granted, the entire industry might be pretty down on Biggio so they might not get anything for him via trade but it seems like he's clearly the low man on the totem pole and obvious trade bait so I would think he is most likely to go.

 

I actually think trading Espinal makes a lot of sense as he would likely bring back the most value. Whit could start the year as the primary 2B with the expectation that Barger will be up some time during the year.

 

Biggio feels like a guy the Rays would snag somehow, have him put up a 5 WAR season hitting 3rd in the lineup, then trade him again for 2 pitching prospects, 1 of which wins cy young in his rookie year.

Wouldn’t mind Trading Teo for Flexen as rumored if we used the savings to go after someone like Nimmo or Conforto

Why non-tender a 2-3 win player that's cheap and will likely see a wee bit of a boost with the shift rules next season. He's basically the left handed version of Whit Merrifield, with slightly less defensive prowess. Biggio is a guy you defiinitely dont want to ditch for nothing if you dont have to.

The question isn’t is Cavan Biggio good, the question is whether or not a 1.5 win player is worth 3M.

Does anyone actually care about how his dad is? Doesn't impact my thoughts, or anyone I knows thoughts, on him as a player.

The Blue Jays have designated outfielders Bradley Zimmer and Raimel Tapia for assignment. Toronto also released left-hander Foster Griffin. In corresponding moves, the Jays selected the contracts of righty Yosver Zulueta and infielders Addison Barger, Spencer Horwitz and Orelvis Martinez.
