He has a couple of times yes. But hes been sitting on the active roster since June 25th and this is only his 4th appearance in over a month.

I don't even understand why Collins is on the team. If we were going to have a third catcher just sit around we should be a glove first. Collins can't hit or field lol.

 

Collins hits well for a backup C but I see your point. His entire purpose is to free up Kirk to DH regularly.

 

I do wish they would pinch run for Kirk more often (Kirk is like bottom 5 in baserunning value in the entire league).

 

Also wish they would use Collins as a late inning defensive replacement to get Kirk and Jansen off their feet. To your point a glove first 3rd catcher would make this easier.

That's fine. There's really nobody for him to pinch hit for most nights and if he's playing a lot a catcher is hurt and that's no good. It's honestly no different than a true backup catcher being on the bench, except on those normal teams the backup C plays 20% of the time. At least Collins almost never starts.
