Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Yea, probably lol. Also think he has a no-trade clause (at least partial), Toronto probably on it.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 None of us should be rewarded. It’s important to reward yourself and others sometimes. Life is hard enough. Lets not make it harder for people : )

Laika Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I am deleting everything that even vaguely references or touches upon this line of discussion shut the f*** up
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 They casually brought up the entire story of where they met and how the romance started during the broadcast. If it’s public knowledge that he hit her when she was pregnant (which it is) I wouldn’t bring up any story about them during the broadcast at all. Stay silent about it entirely. Even better don’t hire the dude but at the very least don’t tell us the origins of their romance lol. Like, on a much smaller scale, I wouldn’t have them run down Pete walker’s five favorite cocktails either. It’s bottom of the 5th in a boring home game vs Baltimore in the dog days of summer, here’s Dante’s five ways to keep your pregnant spouse happy. Number three will surprise you!!! Okay great but you’re not being paid to be a part of the broadcast crew so your opinion on this is void and null. Imagine if everyone just aired everyone else’s dirty laundry on air. The world would certainly be a better place.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 @dagagad we made the decision a while ago to outright ban political discussions/posts because over years it became clear that they were unproductive, just lead to animosity and personal feuds between posters, and they distracted from valuable baseball discussion. I am not sure if the board has been BETTER since the rule changes but it certainly is not worse. Although, people are morons and they still find reasons to have little spats. Like as you can see here they will get into little micro political fights about the tilt of moderation or whether or not certain posts require moderation. Absolute bitches.

Huh, none of us are getting paid to make managerial decisions for the blue jays but we talked s*** about Charlie for years, lol. I don’t think they should air dirty laundry but they definitely shouldn’t have talked about the budding romance of a known spousal abuser. Maybe he’s a reformed man. That’s fine but stay off the topic altogether imo.

Hipfan Verified Member Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Maybe the FO found a diamond in the rough with Tapia? If that's the case, Vladdy, Pearson, Moreno for Soto. Who says no?

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Maybe the FO found a diamond in the rough with Tapia? It's really a shame this guy is Ezekiel Carrera defensively...
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 It's really a shame this guy is Ezekiel Carrera defensively... From examining his defensive metrics for the season he's passable in left field (0 DRS/-1 OAA/216 innings) and center field (-1 DRS/0 OAA/149 innings), but an abomination in right field (-5 DRS/-3 OAA/199 innings). A little better optimization of his deployment into the field might mitigate a fair bit of the damage he's able to cause defensively.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Chapman continues to crush it for the Jays. 136 wRC+ in June and 152 wRC+ in July. The peripherals indicated this was coming and it's awesome to see. He could be a 4 to 5 WAR player for us.

His RF/LF splits make sense based on the fact that his arm leaves a lot to be desired.

One of the most underrated players on the squad.

I was hopeful the bat could come around eventually, but the surprising thing to me is that his defensive metrics are rather pedestrian so far. I suspected if he were playing more to his floor that it would be his bat that was holding him back and not the defense.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Raimel Tapia above replacement level above average wRC+ 81st percentile max EV (previous seasons: 37, 36, 26, 50, 42, and 70).

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria! Some weird numbers in there. Whats weird is Tapia has a 101 wRC+ and Bo is at 100
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Whats weird is Tapia has a 101 wRC+ and Bo is at 100 Holy crap. I just looked it up and don’t like what I see AT ALL. Bo’s on base percentage, batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS+ has gone down every single year of his 4 year career (noting only short MLB stints his first two years) It's not just a bad half season... This is LEGIT worrisome from a player we have been counting on being a perennial middle of the order bat. Is he maybe actually not that???
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Bo is having a s*** year Holy crap. I just looked it up and don’t like what I see at all. Bo’s on base percentage, batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS+ has gone down every single year of his 4 year career. It's not just a bad half season... this is LEGIT worrisome from a player we have really been counting on being a perennial middle of the order bat. You're severely overreacting lol. First of all, by wRC+ Bo did better in 2021 than in 2020. The "gone down every single year of his 4 year career" can be explained by: Rookie year: only 212 PAs Sophomore year: only 128 PAs, shortened season, pandemic, couldn't even play in his home park Third year: his only actual full year, split between three different home parks Fourth year: is 2/3 of the way through, he can regress to his mean Bichette is whiffing and striking out more this year compared to last, while walking a bit more. His BABIP is the lowest in his career, so maybe that's regression to the mean or he's just being unlucky relative to his true talent. His avg. exit velo is 85th percentile, same as 2021, hard hit rate actually better - 89th percentile this year vs 83rd in 2021, barrel rate about the same, and there's nothing glaring in his batted ball data that indicates his swing has changed. Bo is fine, he's basically a ~120 wRC+ true talent hitter which is reflected in his projections, and due to his swing happy tendencies is prone to being streaky. He's likely not a 140 wRC+ monster like his rookie season, but still a very good hitter that should slot within the top 5 of the lineup.

I do hope he returns to something in between his rookie season/this season and soon. He seems too talented to not figure it out offensively.
