Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 I think Bo is just in a bit of a slump. ... He's far too talented of a player for this to be more than a bit of a speed bump where he's battling a bit. This appears to be much the same situation for Teoscar as well. ... He'll emerge from this and continue to mash once again. I hope so! Bo works way too hard and you can see that he gets visibly depressed when he isn't doing well; hopefully, he gets out of it.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Guys - this is baseball. I suspect most teams only "fire on all cylinders" for a few weeks each year. When the pitching was carrying us, we were all love it and ripping the offense for sucking. Now that the script has flipped, we just s*** all over the pitchers. Baseball has a ton of ups and downs throughout the year.

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 > The Rays have placed LH Brooks Raley and RH Ryan Thompson on the Restricted List and added RH Javy Guerra and RH Phoenix Sanders to the active roster. The Rays have placed LH Jeffrey Springs on the Family Medical Emergency List and recalled LH Ryan Yarbrough from Triple-A Durham. Some guy on twitter said 'trade for KD' - who the f*** is KD?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Yarbrough was called up to start tonight, dude owns us for some reason. Hope that changes tonight.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Lol the two pitchers the Rays added to replace the guys they had to leave behind have better AAA numbers than any pitcher the Jays have in AAA. High K guys with low walk rates and low xFIPs I don't know f*** all about them but I bet at least one of them comes in throwing an easy 98 with some sort of wipe out secondary.

Phoenix Saunders has been in the Rays organization since 2014, always been a high K guy. Guerra is ehhhhh, not that good; came over from the Padres

We have gotten to his poo a few times but ya he can frustrate this line up. All about the chase because he will try to throw nothing with any of the plate. We always think we should crush him and then...not so much. We will need to rake in this series.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Hopefully we don't see Castillo warming in the top of the second inning, but it is a distinct possibilitiy with Kuch starting.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Would love to see Castillo given a shot in the rotation. Reminds me of Kelvim Escobar.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 If this team can finally get the starters, offence and bullpen firing on all cylinders at the same time they will be able to go on an epic run reminiscent of the second half of 2021. Early on the starters and bullpen were good but the offence was s***, then the offence caught fire but the starters and bullpen were both s***. The team is good defensively and has an elite offensive lineup, but it would be a shame if this is all undone by bad pitching, particularly from the bullpen. difficult to envision our bullpen 'catching fire' there just isn't a lot of guys with upside in it. Good news is we have one of the easiest remanding schedules in the AL, and the easiest within our division.

A few high quality additions to the pen will allow the remaining members to slot into more appropriate leverage levels. Removing the deadweight members from the pen will also allow the club to keep games close more frequently as well instead of regularly seeing gasoline poured on the fire by guys that don't even belong in MLB, let alone pitching in leverage situations.

I need to see more of Castillo before assigning any kind of MLB utility to him. His expected stats are vomit worthy as he's allowed a 70% hard hit rate on balls in play leading to an xERA of over 10. This should even out over time but the guy is red flags galore early on.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Trevor Richards pitched an inning for Buffalo today, gave up 3 runs and 2 homers. He's cooked Kay also pitched 1.2 innings for Buffalo back from rehab in Dunedin. 2 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks. Jesus these guys are terrible.

I don't think those numbers have any meaning in this sample size. All you really care about in his MLB sample are scouting opinions or pitch level stats. His stuff+ and command+ are 99.7 and 106.5 That's not a great stuff+ number for a reliever. He does not have strikeout stuff. But the command figure is good... he might have more utility as a starter or long man than a reliever. We will see. I'd like to see the stuff+ number if he were to just throw one inning stints. But 105+ command+ is pretty good.... If he can maintain that he will be a good MLB pitcher. For reference here is Yimi this year 96.1 104.4 And there are lots of good MLB starters with stuff plus below 100 but good command plus numbers. Guys like Wade Miley

Guys like Wade Miley If that’s real and he has enough pitches he can command that can totally work as a back end starter. Or even better depending on how many pretty good pitches. It’s interesting to me that garcia’s command is so good because my impression of him is that he always ‘just outside the zone’ but of course that is what good command is.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Pumped for this Canada Day game even if I can't watch it. Berrios got the home opener this year packed full and was horrendous only to have the offence bail him out. Great chance for him to get some retribution today against a big rival. It's going to be an electric atmosphere. Hope we bring it!
