My friends nephew plays in the NHL. 32 and in perfect shape. Got C-19 in early 21 and felt better in 4-5 days. Was back on the ice.

Then sick again. Now long covid and cant walk a half mile with his family. Slowly feeling a bit better but for a long time he thought his career was over. It still may be.

This is an anomaly obviously but its interesting/concerning what happens a percentage of people from this long term.

Damn your friends nephew is Brandon Sutter? Does your friend work for the NHL or an NHL team in any capacity. Seems like every Sutter in existence is involved in the league in some way.

Yeah I think Biggio is moved some time between now and the deadline. Injuries will happen and maybe he will play more then, but I think they have soured on him. Some team will look at his last name and his 2019-2020 numbers and give up something for him, probably not much, but something useful that would help the Jays.

Most likely Houston. His dad will command it so him and his wife no longer have those awkward moments in the stands when they have to cheer on their son playing for the opponents.

We're being allowed 14 pitchers in May. So 14 pitchers, 12 hitters with the cut down. Should be Heinman, Katoh going down.

No Gurriel or Kirk in the lineup today… Katoh starting at 1B… George in RF today…

Lol Charlie wut u doin bro

Yes, this is a real head scratcher. Gurriel seemed to be heating up and one would think you would really want to stay with the hot hand. Hope it is nothing more than just a silly decision by Montoyo.

Gurriel DH'd yesterday too right? Seems odd - maybe an underlying injury?

Hard to believe that some actually think he's a good manager. Worst manager in the league.

Maybe he’s a great player manager like Dusty Baker, but he’s also a terrible tactical manager like Dusty Baker.

I don't think it's fair to put that all on Charlie. It's certainly not like he sits down by himself and decides what the lineup will be each day...

Sometimes I feel like I spend more time thinking about and constructing my rec softball team lineup than Charlie does with the Jays lineup.

Yep, there's no defending his stupidity. He's the boss on that bench.

I've become a Charlie stan and every bad managerial decision that takes place this season is Shatkins fault.

Either they're sending the instructions down themselves directly, or they are condoning it by regularly extending Charlie.

Whether he is simply following his marching orders or his inadequacy is being enabled by up top, it's not really Charlie's fault either way.

So you really think Charlie is that weak? Just a puppet?

My point is that I don't care whether he is or isn't a puppet. Either they are telling him what to do or they're okay with his decisions.

But it's not his fault regardless.

If they don't like his decisions they can fire him. Or they can step in and tell him what to do better.

When neither is happening, the organization as a whole is at fault for every questionable decision, not just one guy.

Gurriel has hamstring soreness apparently.

wait - so you're saying those who choose to rip Charlie for being stupid above didn't have enough information to accurately form an opinion? Shocking.

And yes I think Charlie is a puppet. Charlie gets info from the analytics team, the performance team, the trainers, his assistant coaches and you damn well know he's been told to run the team a certain way by Shatkins. This isn't 2003 Art Howe going rogue for f*** sakes.

Montoyo is just managing in a way he can defend in interviews next year.

If he's not making the decisions then it's not his fault obviously, but if he's making bad decisions and management is letting him do it then it's both their fault. Management for letting it slide but the decisions are literally Montoyo's job(if he's making them). If they're bad decision you don't get to avoid blame because management is letting you be bad. You get blame for being bad. Management gets blame for not doing anything about you being bad.

Current roster is 12 hitters, 16 pitchers so 2 pitchers have to go down. Should be Francis and Saucedo. Heinmann and Katoh likely go down when 2 of Teo, Jansen, and Biggio are back. When all 3 are back I would guess they option Thornton for the 3rd spot if nobody else gets hurt before then. When Ryu is back things get interesting. Assuming it's before May 30th they'll have the choice to go 14 or 13 arms. Merryweather/Borucki or Biggio/Collins/Zimmer have to be optioned/DFA'd.

Someone will probably get hurt before then though

I was still kind of including Biggio. A c19 dl isn't quite the same as the regular dl.
