connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 But 18 games, is cool to cut down Smith, or 10 games is cool to promote a guy, that's played them games in 2 years professionally. lol I’m being playful about Lewis but someone asked who would be this year’s Volpe and I think he’s got a shot at that
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Grayson probably should be promoted though. I don’t know what else he can do and it’s basically a service time thing there imo
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 See, now I have two smarty pants lawyers saying I’m not trolling No one knows, cause you're that stupid. It's that simple.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 "Maybe, maybe not?" That's exactly the kind of spineless reply I expect from you Jim. Is he cooked or not? Grow some balls and take a side. And 2021 isn't when this started FYI. His statcast numbers in 2020 were really quite bad but he got some good BABIP luck that year. Add in the deadened ball a year later and that was when he couldn't fake being a good player anymore. So you're the kind of guy that says Kelenic is a bust.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 So you're the kind of guy that says Kelenic is a bust. Different pedigree Jim

BTS Community Moderator Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Different pedigree Jim Wow, such racism
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Wow, such racism Actually what was racist was TL’s Vlad photoshop lol. Blatant racism
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 It's not that his 4 WAR in 700 PA was fake. It just may no longer be a reasonable expectation due to injury. The walk rate floor, ability to play multiple defensive positions (albeit not in a plus way...) and swing left handed should give him plenty of room to try and figure out the rest of the hitting part. So you think he has lingering injury issues? Based on what?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Keyboard warrior. Put some Bengay on your back and knees and cool yourself down lol... I laughed.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 ...Do you think I made that? lmao Make or share…no moral high ground either way lol
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 lol... I laughed. I think putting Bengay on your balls would be a better suggestion.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 So you think he has lingering injury issues? Based on what? Not so much that he is currently injured, just that the injuries he sustained may have shaved a bit of his bat to ball skills down from where they were, which for him would be a big problem.

For the record (and not specifically directed at you, just something that just occurred to me to check), Cavan Biggio has 3 options remaining. There would be absolutely no reason to put him in the IL for a "phantom injury" if it's just a performance issue. He can be optioned to AAA with no consequences at any time.

There’s reasons they just aren’t obvious to you. Usually when someone goes on rehab, they don’t need to “wait until they start hitting”.

If they wanted Cavan Biggio in AAA, Cavan Biggio would be in AAA. Rehab stints are often used to help someone recover their form after an injury has robbed them of a decent amount of time for the same reason that people are sent to extended spring training if they miss time during spring training. "Recovered from injury" doesn't just mean "doctor has cleared them to play", it means they are ready to go in MLB games. He played a total of 22 AAA games during his rehab stints, and he was not hitting well when they promoted him, so why would they have promoted him if they were going to "wait until they start hitting" [citation needed on that quote, btw.]

It may have been something like, “we’re going to wait until he gets going” but was the same concept. Then a hole opened up for him.. As for “reasons”, it’s because you can’t think past Fangraphs. Baseball still has a human element. Biggio at one time looked like a core piece and so it’d be pretty demoralizing to just be like “you’re really sucking it up and need to go to the minors”…rather, it’d be better to bring up the nagging things he’s been battling and say take a bit of time to get your body right, you’re pressing right now etc
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Managing concepts are basically the same from McDonalds to pro sports

If they felt he wasnt ready to come back up, they simply could have optioned him to stay in the minors instead. Since they can only keep a position player in the minors for 20 days while on a rehab stint (30 days for pitchers), they either have to call him back up or option him if he has remaining options.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Not checking but if I recall correctly, they brought him back when rosters went to 28. Not 100% on that but definitely 100% on the gist of the quote. Anyways, w/e. We’ll each remember it how we want

Friday night vs. A's - 1.19 million. And this: Going head-to-head vs. Leafs on Thursday vs. Yanks - 735,00 vs. 746,000 for the pucks.

Blue jays will always have the appeal for being Canada's team while the hockey teams will mostly be local. Great to see the numbers nonetheless.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 When are we going to see Andrew Vazquez? He has 6 Ks, 1 BB and 0 hits in 3.2 IP in AAA. He projects well and the team went out on a limb and signed him to an MLB deal in the offseason so we know the Jays brass likes him. Are they manipulating his service time or something? lol
