Well hopefully he only gets a start vs Oakland and not a better offensive team like Houston/Boston

You say that but As have done some heavy damage against the Rays.

If he had been a LHH i think he’d currently be a bluejay.

It's really too bad they weren't able to find a competent left handed bat for this lineup.

The outfield would look fine with one of Springer/Teoscar out if Gurriel was hitting, but he's so streaky you just never know what you're going to get.

Lourdes and Biggio might find their way out of town if they can add a veteran bat.

Totally ignorant on this, is there a training program to prevent or reduce oblique injuries?

Just seems we have our share. ( assuming that is what Teoscar has ) Who else, Jansen, Groshans, believe Irv Carter )

Or is it just fluke?

I mean, Michael conforto does exist. Teoscar looks like he could be out for awhile. Would you give up a draft pick when you've already picked up 2 to give Conforto 1 and 15?

Depends. The pick you give up wouldn’t be overly high, so it would be less impacting at this point.

The real issue with Conforto is not the pick, but his vaccination status. If he can’t play here, then there’s no point

I would but if he’s chosen to not have the covid vaccine then there really isn’t a decision to be made.

This is obviously with the benefit of hindsight but I can't say I'm feeling great about the Jays catching and outfield situations at the moment. The Grichuk and McGuire trades may have felt defensible at the time each was made but with the early injuries to each of Jansen and Teoscar it would sure be nice to have each of these guys back right about now.

I’d say it seems to be as common as leg/hanstring/quad injuries. Just that oblique injuries are more common in baseball where you’re taking huge swings. We seem to have a lot of guys that take wild swings like Springer, Bo, Vlad, Teo, Lourdes….

I believe Kevin Pillar injured his oblique sneezing in his rookie year.

Its a common injury and im not sure there’s much in the way of prevention

Its funny how those 2 trades seem to have immediately backfired in the first week of the season. Hopefully someone can step up between Tapia/Zimmer/Collins/Katoh/Biggio

Luckily it's just bench pieces we're talking about.

Chapman hasn't found his stroke yet...I'm still confident that he will. But at the very least that D has had a huge impact on the overall IF defence. Finding 2018 Chapman at the plate would just be gravy.

It's been one week. McGuire and Grichuk aren't very good. Toronto is fine.

No based on my reading of it when I get it (golf), there isn't. The body isn't really made for the violent rotation of a pitching motion, swing of the bat, swing of the golf club

That was an especially violent swing that Teoscar took upon injuring himself, enough so that Mr. Vanilla Pat Tabler commented on how there was no need to swing so hard you hurt yourself. He must be a bit of a soothsayer or something. We see Bo swing like that on basically every swing though, hopefully he doesn't eventually end up seeing the same fate.

I can't help but think that the shortened spring training is at least partially to blame here, I believe the covid shortened season saw a ton of soft tissue injuries after the shortened spring training of that year as well, so baseball as a whole may be in for a rough ride injury wise this year.

I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if Bo suffered an oblique injury. Hopefully not though. I think maybe some guys are just more predisposed to certain injuries. Bo has had leg injuries in the past, and Teo has had oblique problems (and wrist problems) in the past.

Its totally possible Teo was compensating for a sore wrist suffered the night before on that sliding catch. It was his left wrist so maybe he wasn’t following through as well with the arm and twisting his body more to compensate, resulting in injuring the oblique

Most of the time oblique injuries happen on check swings, unbelievable amount of torque involved there, there's no way of avoiding such injuries, it is what it is.

Thanks, guys, I kinda thought it was just a fluke.

Got an early afternoon Grand Marnier constitutional to “ can you keep it to a dull roar “!

Hopefully, that’s our quota.

If Hernandez is going to miss an extended period of time I think it might be a good idea to change the top of the lineup.

1. Espinal

2. Bo

3. Vlad

4. Springer

This way you have Springer behind Vlad to help protect him. Plus Springer has been hitting and he may increase his RBI total if in the fourth spot. Espinal hit for average last year and did a pretty good job getting on base....think moving him up might actually be good for him. What better way to show a player you value the work they have put in over the offseason to improve...than moving him up to the lead off. Who knows, it may unlock something in Espy. Plus Espy and Bo have speed and speed is always good to have at the top of the lineup and well, on the bases for when the big boys come up.

Almost banned you impulsively for this

Should Chapman get a chance to hit 4th??

He has done very little to warrant batting cleanup. I think it is easier to replace the leadoff position and move Springer to clean up. If you move Chapman to 4th....I see walks in Vladdy's immediate future. I think you need a threat batting behind Vladdy.
