Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Maybe the Diamondbacks could sign him who knows. But it won’t be because he has a house in Scottsdale lol. Imagine that promotional email. “Diamondbacks sign area resident to anchor rotation, renew your season tickets now!”

Laika Community Moderator Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Doubt that I mean I hope he pitches for someone Just seems like a blackball scenario given what we have seen in baseball
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I mean I hope he pitches for someone Just seems like a blackball scenario given what we have seen in baseball There’s enough teams that will risk it and once he starts playing again nobody will care. People never do, they’re only outraged by the current thing until the next thing comes along
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Conforto to the Giants on a two year $36 million dollar deal. Lol the Giants taking Haniger and Conforto but worried about injury propensity. In their defense, huge difference in contract length and terms for those two vs CC.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 And there it is... my dream shattered.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 And there it is... my dream shattered. Basically the Mets signing Correa cost us any shot at Conforto. It's a shame, I wanted him too!
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 And there it is... my dream shattered. Time to get on the horn to AZ or Pit now…
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Time to get on the horn to AZ or Pit now… I'm assuming they have an open dialogue by now, lol.

People never do, they’re only outraged by the current thing until the next thing comes along Maybe but the PR hit a team takes by acquiring Bauer, and then he (probably?) goes and does stupid s*** again, is a significant risk And have to balance that risk of another shitstorm against the contributions a guy that hasn't thrown a MLB pitch in quite some time might provide It might be tough for that risk balance to tilt in Bauer's favour

The only people who truly care enough aren’t enough to outweigh the impact a front of the line starter on a short term deal brings. Not having pitched in the majors isn’t an issue. The games most analytical player will be ready. In fact you could argue it’s a positive in his favour.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Didn't work out well for the Tigers and Denny McLean after his suspension. Mind you McLean didn't take care of himself back then......not sure if thats even close to a fair comparison.

Neither of us have an understanding of the team marketing calculus that is at play. None of us can assert anything in this matter I'm just pointing out the risks that a team has from a marketing standpoint Hell, with the s*** Bauer is engaged in, he might end up killing someone at some point

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Sorry what are you alleging he did? Read the reports, bro. The allegations are in the public sphere. And the evidence sufficient to warrant a 194 game suspension in the eyes of a neutral, and trained, 3rd party.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Evidence sufficient enough to toss the case Like a house built on sand Not enough evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt (the criminal threshold) But enough evidence to prove guilt on a balance of probabilities (the civil liability threshold)
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Not enough evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt (the criminal threshold) But enough evidence to prove guilt on a balance of probabilities (the civil liability threshold) If the evidence proves he’s got a kink fetish then guilty as charged
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 If the evidence proves he’s got a kink fetish then guilty as charged That wouldn't result in a 194 game suspension.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 He’s going to prison! He’ll have to play in Asia! He’ll never play in the MLB again! Nobody is gonna sign him! There’s a common theme here

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 So it’s pretty much official. The other shoe to drop was KK
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I hope you get more tinfoil for Christmas this year Jim. Lmao
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I hope you get more tinfoil for Christmas this year Jim. My comment solely relates to the risk a team takes. Of course the chance of that happening is remote. Bauer is going to lash out when he loses the court case and has to pay the woman $$$. More bad press for any team that signs him.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 He’s going to prison! He’ll have to play in Asia! He’ll never play in the MLB again! Nobody is gonna sign him! There’s a common theme here I can get with the Bonds precedent, the idea nobody will sign him. Baseball does wax more conservative than other sports. The NBA they would all be lining up their bids lol I don’t think it’s dumb to say he won’t get signed, but I think he will in a couple months when it’s not so hot. Worst case, I think if nobody signed him this year, he’d get signed next year.
