The Mets have traded C James McCann to the Orioles for a player to be named later, per source. @JeffPassan was on it.

They are paying 2.5 mil per year. McCaan is a pretty high character guy. How much cheaper do you want to go?

Sure, but Javier could be a legitimate SP2, which is an All-Star level talent. That could be better than what we could get Bat-wise.

 

I was talking about Kirk, he's already an AS catcher and Silver Slugger award winner.

As the anti-me Hurl explained, SF wouldn’t do anything to burn that bridge. Now it’s with a small-time FA like Conforto but next year it may be a big name. There was no backtracking with CC, just fell apart; no one’s fault really

I agree with connorp here. If the Giants are the high bidder on Conforto, they're likely going to sign him. Boras isn't going to cost his client money because his feelings were hurt in the Correa negotiation.

Giants are going to look pretty dumb adding Conforto and Haniger but walking away from Correa because of health issues.

SF is a s***** team in a pitchers park. Not the ideal landing spot for Conforto to rebuild his value. Let's go get him.

Such a stupid rule they have.

 

It's not like we're talking about these guys working in an office etc. They're professional ballplayers. Let them grow their beards haha.

Some funny stories around this. I lol'ed at the one below...

 

Lou Piniella, meanwhile, once challenged the rule during spring training in Fort Lauderdale, citing that Jesus had long hair. Steinbrenner responded to this critique by pointing at a nearby swimming pool and saying, "If you can walk on water, you can wear your hair any way you want."

I wanna see the Yankees trade for a guy at the trade deadline some year and have that player refuse to shave.

 

I saw heard about it in the military from guys who wanted beards but were not in a unit that allowed a relaxed grooming standard. They would go get a chit from some doctor, or doctor shop until they found a chit that said that they needed the beard for medical reasons because shaving would cause an adverse reaction to their skin or they have hyper sensitive skin, etc, etc... I think that is how the rule will be broken with the Yankees.

 

Some player will pull the medical reasons card.

JPM saying that if the Pirates trade Reynolds, the ask that has to be in the deal is Tiedeman from the Jays

 

Bobby Miller would need to be in for the Dodgers if they did a deal.

I said this ages ago when people kept bringing up our catchers, that's the only headline offer that makes sense for the Bucs.

I agree. Also, the Blue Jays OF situation is not really that terrible. I think they will be at least as productive as 2022.
