G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 Sale injured again due to a linedrive: https://streamable.com/0rlxfr Did he trash the clubhouse afterwards? Joking aside he's having a rough go
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) So yeah this though stretch of schedule is not working out well for Boston Wish our easy stretch was working out better.... It's happening Red Sox about to fall to 3 games over 500 Edited July 17, 2022 by G-Snarls
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 MLBTR re Soto negotiations TODAY: The Nationals aren’t planning to increase their offer beyond $440MM, The Washington Post’s Jesse Dougherty writes. Soto is reportedly looking for a deal that is at least a decade long, gives him the most guaranteed money in baseball history, and gives him an AAV at least close to the highest average annual values. In a Twitter thread, Dougherty suggests that the Nats could come closer to Soto’s demands by offering $440MM over 12 or 13 years rather than 15, though that scenario might not be palatable to the Nationals for luxury tax reasons.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Starting lineup for AL: Ohtani > Judge > Devers > Vlad > Stanton > Buxton > Anderson > Gimenez > Kirk

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I assume if the Yankees traded for Soto that would mean Judge would likely leave in free agency. I imagine the Yankees would be fine with that if they had Soto I bet Judge ends up with the Mets next year if he gets to free agency
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I just realized Soto still has 2.5 years of control left before free agency That's pretty fantastic even if you can't manage a contract extension
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I imagine the Yankees would be fine with that if they had Soto I bet Judge ends up with the Mets next year if he gets to free agency Soto would be a helluva consolation prize. Short term downgrade for a much younger player with similar upside in a peak season. How high the Mets are willing to above the luxury tax remains to be seen, but all indications are that Cohen is willing to splash nearly unlimited cash on his team.

It's a little crazy - Judge has only been in the majors for 2 years longer than Soto, but he's 7 years older... 30 vs 23 is a massive difference when you're projecting/valuing obviously.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 They should do this for regular season games as well. If we're going to implement idiotic and nonsensical rule changes for no apparent reason then they may as well be fun for the fans.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Sucks the HR Derby isn't on MLB TV. I swear I don't think I'll renew next season.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 J-Rod Show J-Rod had some good odds. Put a couple bucks down on him to win the whole thing. He has a lot to gain if he wins the Derby.
