Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Man I can't stand when umps f*** calls up and then get confrontational leading to a player getting tossed. It's f***ing ********. Fans aren't there to watch the retard ump f*** calls up and turn it into a circus. They're there to watch the players FFS. When an ump does that the player should be allowed to kick the ever loving s*** out of him right in front of everyone. Would fix that problem real quick.

I agree with the majority of this post (mostly in a facetious way, but still) but can we maybe chill on the use of the word "retard"?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 This is the first I hear about it being verboten for an umpire to walk towards a pitcher to communicate with them. I can't see it being proper, in these circumstances. Umpires shouldn't be the ones escalating a dispute.

Seems like pitcher got away with mouthing off the first time around. Have to let it go there. Keeps talking s*** after the AB and the ump wasn’t going to let him keep running his mouth. Manager came out right away. Don’t blame ump at all. And I agree with robo umps in general
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Gallen has got nothing to complain about, it's worse when you're the batter...
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 This is the first I hear about it being verboten for an umpire to walk towards a pitcher to communicate with them. Agreed. Pitcher was whining quite a bit too before he started walking out there.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Gallen has got nothing to complain about, it's worse when you're the batter... Umps are actively trying to give away their ball/strike responsibilities.

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 At this point last year Semien had 14 HR... this year 1. What the hell happened? League adjusted to him + he's pressing. Or was pressing. He's been better lately. I think they are pounding him down in the zone. He needs to focus on hitting singles and doubles until the pitchers try to throw him up in the zone again. Eno Sarris said this and it makes sense to me
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Ah. Mike Trout was the commissioner of that fantasy football league. That’s kind of funny

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Many a GM has made a statement like that, only to trade the player a few weeks later. Keep smokin' away.

The option from NESN will be available starting Wednesday and lets people sign up to watch live games without paying for a cable subscription. It comes as millions of Americans are canceling traditional pay TV subscriptions each year as streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max become more popular. Starting Wednesday, NESN will charge $29.99 a month for streaming access to its network’s programming, which includes live Red Sox and Boston Bruins games. The first month will cost $1 as a promotional price. An annual subscription costs $329.99 and comes with eight tickets to any Red Sox game in 2022. The service, NESN 360, will only be available to people in the New England area. MLB owns out-of-market streaming rights for its MLB TV, a streaming service that’s available nationally. “We believe the direct subscription option will build on NESN’s reach in the region,” said Sean McGrail, NESN’s president and chief executive officer, in a statement. NESN, majority owned by Boston Red Sox owner Fenway Sports Group, is seeking to win over a new, younger audience by offering a digital streaming alternative for Red Sox and Bruins games. But the service will be pricey relative to existing streaming services. Netflix and HBO Max, the most expensive global streaming services, have standard plans that cost about $15 per month in the U.S. Regional sports networks have to charge a significantly higher price for an out-of-cable service because of their agreements with cable TV providers, such as Comcast, Charter and DirecTV. Cable providers have agreed to pay NESN a flat monthly fee based on estimates about viewership.

SNNow is $15/month and offers a f***load more than just the Jays.

Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 Watching rays-rangers. 3-3 bottom of tenth, 2-0 count bases loaded and poche the rays reliever is barely able to find the zone. Rangers hitter swings at a borderline strike and flies out. It wasn’t even in the middle of the zone. It could easily have been called a ball. Couldn’t believe it. So f***ing dumb. Why couldn’t someone bail us out when chatwood was blowing games last year?
