jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Even recently acquiring Trevor Story in the LOD, this was funny!

BCZ Verified Member Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Are there any former Jays who aren't raking so far this season? You just sent me down the rabbit hole: Rot raking -- Corey Dickerson Kevin Smith Travis Shaw Aledmys Díaz Billy McKinney Dwight Smith Jr. (AAA) Raking -- Rowdy Tellez (!!) Randal Grichuk (!) Brandon Drury Kevin Pillar (AAA) Jonathan Davis (AAA) Luke Maile (12 PA MLB + 20 PA AAA)

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Are there any former Jays who aren't raking so far this season? Most of the guys who would have been on the bench or platooning (Grichuk, Drury, Tellez) have been off to great starts. Jays bench is very weak. You'll see it even more when you lose guys like Teo or other big bats to the IL. Majority of the Jays lineup needs to stay healthy or else...
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Tony La Russa inexplicably sticking with Dallas Keuchel in the 6th inning at 90+ pitches with a 3-0 lead in Fenway. The lead has almost evaporated.

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 "That's an easy out in 99% of ballparks... He just happened to hit it in a Little League ballpark." Even if wrong, I choose to ignore the facts and rally behind him. f*** that ballpark.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 https://blogs.fangraphs.com/an-overdue-barrel-rate-refresher/ Article on batters 'barreling' baseballs and pitchers giving up 'barrels' (and whether they have much control over that or not). I skim read a few paragraphs, but thought I'd post anyway.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Is anyone else watching Nestor Cortes absolutely clown on the Rangers?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Is anyone else watching Nestor Cortes absolutely clown on the Rangers? Yup. I don’t get it
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Yup. I don’t get it I've been watching guys repeatedly swing through middle high cutters since last year, and I don't understand. If you saw video of all his pitches with velo, you'd assume he's a AAA journeyman.

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Must be a hidden ball thing like Yusmeiro Petit I bet he gets hammered third time through the order

And I look back, and I'm like, ‘It's 91.’ Like, I don't understand how they miss it.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 At least the Yankees won't have any pitchers left for our two game series

Feels like he’ll be a pitcher that dominates for a season or two, and then people figure him out and he’s borderline AAAA guy. Similar to Estrada

Similar to Estrada Marco Estrada???? doesn't make sense, he was pretty good for like 6 or 7 years, just had some wonky FIP vs ERA stuff going on at times.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Guy is actually nutso. Is this the closest thing to a perfect Statcast page right now?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Alvarez certainly gets overshadowed by the Soto, Tatis, Vlad, Acuna's of the world. I know he's a DH, but this guys bat is on the same level. Next David Ortiz?
Key22 Verified Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 How did you miss Marcus Semien for the not raking list That is a bit shocking - his numbers are horrid Rowdy Tellez - lol - there's a number 4 hitting lefty bat we could use right now - You just never know. Albeit on the strength of a couple of ridiculous games.
