King Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 I tried to squint and see an 85-90 season, because its the A's. Maybe if they keep Manaea and Montas? If those two move, it looks really, really bad. The lineup is awful. They would need some breakouts, I think. Like Kevin Smith becoming an impact hitter would help. Pache reaching 100 wRC+ with his defense. And a few others like Murphy and Laureano hitting above their projections.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 So Oakland is going to be terrible right? Does anyone think this is one of those years where everyone expects them to be terrible and they win 90 games? Go on record now and look like a genius in 6 months! In 2022, no chance. In 3 years? Somehow they'll find a way to be really good again, while some of the pieces they got in recent trades will be big contributors.

I somewhat expect them to be better than the Rangers and perhaps even the Mariners if things bounce right. Who the hell knows with the Angels, but they probably get 2nd.

They sold out for position players but still have one of the worst pitching staffs in the league. Will likely be a frustrating team to play against. They won't be good but they are annoyingly flawed.

Yeah they really need like, Dane Dunning AND Spencer Howard to be really, really good and I am not sure those are good bets to make.

They need to add some stopgap guys to their lineup and hope they get lucky with two or three guys.
