That seems like the approach considering we still have Stripling/Pearson who can battle for the 5th spot. Stripling is going into a contract year so I wouldn't be surprised if he can pin down the 5th spot. I've lost all hope for counting on Pearson for anything until he can show us something without getting hurt.

They definitely aren’t giving another starter 100 plus million. But they will absolutely add another starter.

Yeah I’m not sure how wise it is to have 3 long term 7 figure deals on your starting roster regardless of how the contracts look on paper. Any other starter at this point will be shorter term for insane AAV like Scherzer though I find that unlikely as much as I would love it, or they swing a trade for a younger and cheaper guy under control multiple years of control. There’s not many pillow deals left out there either that would be intriguing

I think Cards. the Angels have a 6 man rotation with Ohtani around so maybe that impacts Ray's decision if he won't be pitching every 5th day. Seems like he got into quite the routine last season and might not want to mess with that.
