Good lord.

I tuned into basketball and didn’t watch it live but if it’s the top right pitch that clipped the zone, you gotta fight that off. As others mentioned recently, there’s a difference between “project the plate” and swing at a ball, that seems to be the former based on the graph

Well the batter didn't swing and it was called a ball so its not the same situation

Ah s***. My bad.

I get it now. But by the graph, doesn’t seem like the end of the world pitcher doesn’t get that call

It was also a curveball. Mis-located breaking balls that clip the top corner of the zone never get called.

Agreed. Pitcher gets several pitches called strikes that are off the plate outside (to righties) and then is livid when a horribly thrown curveball that backs up, missing spot by over a foot clips the top of the zone and he doesn't get the call.

f*** off with that s***. Pitch better.

Betcha a roboump would have trouble with a breaking pitch clipping the corner of the zone. That one could go either way, human or robot.

Every technology has limitations.

Having said that, roboumps all the way, consistency......

I haven't watched this series at all, so I am questioning the use of Eovaldi last night. Why was that their move? It obviously cost them the game (which could have happened to anyone, so whatever), but the extra downside is now their game 6 starter might be gassed too?

Yeah it's going to be real ugly for Cora if Eovaldi gets hit hard in game 6. If they win the series it will be pushed aside and he'll probably do it again in the WS.

Cora kind of pushed all his cards in last night. I think he felt that Houston's bullpen was taxed (which it was) and that Eovaldi would be able to shut Houston down long enough for their offense to score a run. If they win and go up 3-1, then they are in the driver seat whether Eovaldi can start again or not.

Agreed, I didn't mind the risk, he should be good to go for 4 innings in game 6 at minimum if he's on.

Just LOL. That's just unacceptable for any umpire in any professional game, let alone the playoffs.

I will always know Laz Diaz because of Game 1 of the ALCS in 2016. The Upton called K in particular always stuck with me.

That wasn't even THAT bad of a call... it barely missed. The optical movement of the catcher sure didn't help though.

That called 3rd strike on Bautista at 8:25 is f***ing brutal
