He was awful as long as I can remember. Terrible at his job, even by mlb umpiring standards.

I agree with most of this but calling Joe West a small man is probably the last way I would choose to describe the guy.

Yeah, that is exactly what I thought. I think I could stand a few more years of Sweaty West if the trade off was that Hernandez retired. I am not sure how he still umps professionally.

It says as much in the OP. I was wondering why he was back this season when he mentioned retiring last year, now it makes sense as he wanted to break the record as most games as a fatass!
