Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Can they get Ramirez without giving up Moreno? If you mean 2022 Donaldson I assume they could get him by taking the contract and some b- contracts. Kris Bryant would be a free agent option. Moreno better not be going anywhere except Toronto in early 2022 season
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Wilner is probably still saying it's early, calm down Fangraphs - Jays playoff odds drop to 3% Wilner - Playoff odds are meaningless. Jays just have to win 7 in a row, which happens all the time in baseball.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Yeah that’s why I never understand when people are like “it’s April, it’s May, don’t worry about it”. Every game matters and way too many were blown. Yup, said it at the start of the year when Biggio/Bo were the worst defensive players at their positions. If we were serious about a playoff birth from the start, Semien would have been our SS. This was a growth year that included some great seasons. As long we keep Semien/Ray and add some impact bullpen arms, we will be legit world series contenders. Heads will start rolling if we fall short next year.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Moreno better not be going anywhere except Toronto in early 2022 season Ramirez is great but I'm not sure the Jays should pay the price. Keep developing young guys, and look for value on short term deals. Likely won't have Semien/Ray type luck again but can still find some value.

Let's find out if Moreno is competent at 3B at the AFL.
Scion Verified Member Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 All three of NYY, OAK, and SEA have won or are winning. Barring a miracle, this season is over. It's not over yet, but they need to win the next two and hope that the Red Sox can take at least one from the Yankees. You don't want to go into the Yankees series needing a sweep.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 This makes me want to eye roll. Go ahead, mate. Roll them now, and pop them when Moreno arrives.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Can they get Ramirez without giving up Moreno? Probably not. If the Indians would be enticed by a package starting with Groshans and Kirk, then maybe there's a chance, but I'd imagine they'd ask for Moreno.

Like Vlad (knee injury 2018, Oblique Spring training 2019) the injury makes it easy. No one is called up after 30 good games at New Hampshire so easy to give him 3 weeks in Buffalo first.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 He’ll magically be MLB ready on April 16, 2022 assuming no lockout. lol Kris Bryant was a perfectly healthy 23 year old, coming off of .330 .430 .630 in 134 games and they still got away with sending him to Iowa for a week. I am sure they will easily send a 22 year old coming off of 30 games to Buffalo for a few weeks.

I really hope there is no lockout, but the way things have looked between MLB and the PA the last two shortened years, I fear the worst. Hell there's a grievance right now by the MLBPA against the MLB accusing them of not negotiating in good faith about the 60 game season last year and that could actually drag out long enough that it's still going on when the CBA negotiations start - which is just a s***** place to even start. using a highly technical, unexplainable mathematical equation based in string theory and just my own raw pessimism, I put the chances of a lockout at a solid 75%.
